| presti7110-21-04, 06:45 AM | Can anyone tell me what the best monk prestige classes are and where to find them? I am new to 3rd edition and am not familiar with prestige classes yet. Is it worth it for a monk to take one or should I just build him myself?!!! |
| Neonsamurai10-21-04, 06:58 AM | Go there, read and comprehend: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=48573 If there are still questions afterwards, come back here and ask. |
| Gerdreg10-21-04, 07:40 AM | A partial reply to your question would be... You may be hard pressed to find a Monk build better than Monk 20. Like the Druid, Monks get new abilities all the way to 20 (unlike many other classes that just get better versions of the same abilities). |
| scrollreader10-21-04, 08:18 AM | That being said, it depends on what kind of Monk you want. Initiate of the Draconic Mysteries is nifty for increased damage dice. Monk of the Long Death is just awesome, flavor-wise. Drunken Master is just fun. Tattooed Monk is flexible. What kind of monk do you want? |

| presti7110-21-04, 10:53 AM | WHich book is shou disciple in? |
| presti7110-21-04, 10:54 AM | I know this is the cheesy answer, but I am looking for a monk that can either do more damage or avoid damage!!! |
| mean_liar10-21-04, 10:57 AM | Shou Disciple is in Unapproachable East. |
| presti7110-21-04, 10:58 AM | Also, I hear a lot of people talking about the Monk's belt. What is it and which book can I find it in. Also, at what level can I expect to afford it?!!! |
| presti7110-21-04, 10:59 AM | Thanks mean liar. Your faq was very helpful also!!!! |
| presti7110-21-04, 11:01 AM | One last question...for now! Wich books are the best for me to find feats/prestige classes/items for monks? |
| charlesatan10-21-04, 12:27 PM | One last question...for now! Wich books are the best for me to find feats/prestige classes/items for monks? Technically, you should go for books like Complete Warrior or its 3.0 predecessor, Sword and Fist (at least if we're talking WotC products). However, as other posters here might tell you, there really aren't that much feats/prestige classes/items for monks, at least in comparison to say, Fighters (but some feats in general work well for both Monks and Fighters). Prestige-class wise, you're better off looking at other books. I mean some of the cool prestige classes mentioned above are from other books like Draconomicon. I'd also add in the Psionic Fist (from the SRD) a.k.a. Fist of Zuoken from the Expanded Psionics Handbook as cool, as well as the Sacred Fist from Complete Divine if you want some added versatility. |
