| GaffeR10-11-06, 02:31 AM | I'm not sure there's a BEST way to do it, but I'd probably go: Ranger 1/Fighter 2/Ranger +2/Deepwarden 2/Dwarven Defender X. I think most would, seems to fit perfectly. I'd also probably take archery as my Ranger style. If the enemy runs away, pull out a Comp Longbow and shoot em! Feats: 1. EWP (Spiked Chain), [Track] 2. [Dodge] 3. Toughness, [Power Attack] 4. [Rapid Shot] 5. [Endurance] 6. Feat If you're gonna be stuck in one place, you might as well have some reach. Actually, if you can buy off LA, Duergar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/monsters/duergarPsionic.htm) is a great choice. You could stick Combat Expertise and Improved Trip in there, then go nuts with Expansion. I seem to recall doing a similar build a while back that was something like: Ranger 3/Fighter 2/Deepwarden 2/Warmind 5/Occult Slayer 5/Dwarf Paragon 3. Edit: Added Toughness. Ugh. See if your DM will allow you to use Improved Toughness instead. Edit2: If you can use Crusader, that might be a great call too. The Stone Dragon school fits in quite well. I'm not sure if they get the necessary skills for Deepwarden, though. Then again, if you have ToB, I don't know why you'd bother with Dwarven Defender instead of Crusader 20, or some such. |
| Xeraph10-11-06, 04:47 AM | Depends on your scores entirely. With a decent Wisdom an Constitution id go: Strong Arm Ranger 2/ Fighter 2/ Paladin 2/ Crusader 2/ Deepwarden 2/ Dwarven Defender 10 |
| X-Codes10-11-06, 05:01 AM | what's the best way into that class? fighter 10? some deepwarden? Fighter 10 isn't the best way to do anything that doesn't require a metric ton of feats. If MoI is allowed, then Azure Toughness and Midnight Dodge are far superior to their non-MoI-enabled counterparts, since you can later dump their minor bonuses for a good Soulmeld (Mauling Gauntlets are good, and others like Mantle of Flame might be useful). Take Bonus Essentia at level 18 to fill out your soulmeld of choice. Ranger 1 Azure Toughness, [Track] Fighter 1 [Power Attack] Fighter 2 Midnight Dodge, [Mobility] Ranger 2 [Rapid Shot] Ranger 3 [Endurance] Deepwarden 1 Elusive Target Deepwarden 2 Dwarven Defender 1 Dwarven Defender 2 Shape Soulmeld (pick one) |
| FriendlyFrog10-11-06, 05:13 AM | I think Warblade/Bloodstorm blade might be an interesting approach. |
| MerlintheTuna10-11-06, 07:01 AM | Knight 3 is a good pickup on your way in. Bulwark of Defense synergizes beautifully with the defensive stance... especially if you bust out a spiked chain. |
| Save-vs-DM10-11-06, 07:54 AM | Actually, Fighter 2/Knight 3/Deepwarden 2/Dwarven Defender 10/Knight +3 would be rather fun. Alternatively, if you have access to Tome of Battle, I'd go something like: Warblade 7/Dwarven Defender 8/Deepstone Sentinel 5 That would make you one heckuva immobile wall of stalwart defense. A lot of the Stone Dragon stances actually prevent you from moving, so the synergy with Dwarven Defender is actually pretty impressive. I'd pick up Martial Stance (Martial Spirit) as a feat early on, as the 2 points of healing is very tasty. Alternatively Warblade 5/Bloodstorm Blade 2/Dwarven Defender 8/Deepstone Sentinel 5 would give you the ability to throw all those axes when enemies decide to run away. Hope this helps Cheers, Save vs DM |
