| SpartanMD04-25-06, 01:29 PM | Just got Champs of Valor and I was intrigued with the Knight of the Weave. It looked like a pretty bare bones but effective gish with easy PrC requirements. Any suggestions for the most optimized path to entrance into the PrC? I was thinking Barb2/Hex3/Cleric2/Knight of the Weave taking whirling frenzy variant for barbarian, power attack, holy might and extra turning wearing medium armor and worshipping either Azuth or Mystara. Which Domain would be the best dip? Magic so I could use mage wands? Thoughts or suggestions? Since the spells are CHA based, I thought you would want to max out STR and CHA, with a decent DEX, CON and WIS, dump stat of INT. |

| swanyusd04-26-06, 10:32 PM | Tell ya what, I am making dinner right now, but I will check this out in a bit. Sounds intriguing. Give me an hour or so and I will have some feedback for you. Edit: Ok, I see some pros with this build working out very nicely. Unfortunately, some stuff has to go. Fortunately, it is easily replaced. Now, I assume your build is set up so you avoid xp penalties, no? Since I am terrible at that, I will just post a sample build that uses what you have, plus other goodies. Here goes. Human Barb 1(whirling frenzy variant)/Hexblade3/Cleric1/Bard2/Knight of the Weave3/RageMage4/EldritchKnight6. *Gasp Ok, so here's what we have. BAB=16 CL=10 (but full knight casting ->lvl 6 spells) Bard CL=2 Saves:14/7/11 with cha to saves vs spells and spell-likes and +2 reflex during rage. Saves should all be at ~20-30 by 20th level with high cha and resistance item. Feats: 1-Power Attack 1-Two-weapon fighting 3-Combat Casting 6-Divine Might (not holy might) 9-Improved 2 weapon fighting 12-Arcane Strike 13-Extra Spell(wraithstrike) 15-Snowflake Wardance 18-Greater 2 weapon fighting OK. I like the knight of the weave class for its roleplay-ability, but frankly its not THAT strong of a class. The spells choices are pretty weak, but, I will not complain, you are the poster asking for help. Here's what your build allows you to do. You get the full 2wpn fighting tree. I like that with this class because of arcane strike, divine might, and snowflake wardance. What do these do together you ask? You get cha to attack and damage AND +spell-level-d4 to damage and rage which gets you an additional swing for 8 swings at lvl 20. If you have you charisma high enough, you just may hit with those last attacks too. You also get the spell wraithstrike, which gets you touch attacks for all your attacks in round. This could guarentee you hitting with your attacks, and certainly with the last few swings. This should be playable through all levels, although it is a bit clumsy. Oh, and you can CAST spells in your rage, via rage mage. You also can rage 2x per day now, and the ASF chance of medium armor is -10% if you so choose to wear medium armor. I'd stick with light for that extra 10 feet to speed though. You also get cha to saves vs spells and spell-likes(practically the same as divine grace) and mettle. Order of stats are cha, str, con, dex, wis, int. There ya have, a full level 20 build with feats and all. I hope it seems playable to you. I am sure there are xp penalties, but I don't know what they are. |

If I could find a good, strong BAB class to add to the spell list, I'd be happy. As it is, the main utility of the class seems to me to be getting a given level of spontaneous arcane spellcasting quickly. |
