best PHB and DMG str [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-15-05, 11:31 PM This is the best str I can get with a level 2 character with only the PHB.

Race: Orc
Classes:Barb 1/Cleric of Kord 1
Base Stats:
Str:18
Dex:Don't matter
Con:Don't matter
Int:Don't matter
Wis:At least 13
Cha:Don't matter

Cleric Domains: Str and whatever

Plus 4 str from being orc. Now str is 22. Drink a potion of bull's str.Now str is 26.Cast enlarge person.Now str is 28.Go into rage.Now str is 32.

Can someone beat this for a level 2 character only using the PHB, DMG, and the MM.

10-16-05, 01:05 AM Not so far as I can see, but those are pretty weak limitations. Any particular reason for that? Level 2 and PHB only really doesn't leave many options for, well, anything.

10-16-05, 09:45 AM It's because the PHB is limited in that way. If you were to include the MM, then it'd probably get beaten. But yeah, that's probably the highest str build at level 2 with just the PHB.

First off - Feat of strength does not stack with Bull's strength since they are both an enhancement bonus.

If I remember right some alternate races are included in the DMG in the NPC section.

Make that an Orc & you're beaten.

I wouldn't be too proud of yourself for that lame str. build - you've wasted a fair chunk of change on that potion & given people meaningless restrictions.

If you want a respectible challenge - try Core only & level 5.

Otherwise it's a joke.

Yeah I can beat you. Use your feat of strength from strength domain. Now your strength is 33.
