best PrC for an archer cleric? [Archive] - Wizards Community

i thought about church inquisitor and comtenplative.

every books are allowed except dragon magazine.

04-13-04, 04:43 PM I asked this last week, didn't get much of a response then, either. About the only useful (and relevant) PrCs would just be 1 level dips. Namely, Contemplative and Templar (both in Defenders of the Faith). Hospitaler is good too, but most DMs don't allow it because it's too good (and I agree).

Otherwise, you might as well go for other generic PrCs for fighters/rangers/etc. Order of the Bow Initiate comes to mind (Complete Warrior for 3.5, Sword and Fist for 3.0), as does Deepwood Sniper (Masters of the Wild) and Peerless Archer (Silver Marches). Just depends on what you're looking for in your character, really.

04-13-04, 05:15 PM Don´t take it wrong, but cleric archer´s aren´t much good nowadays with 3.5 and now persistance spell going +6. A fighter will charge to you and sunder your bow, and then your useless...

edit: not that it will matter - "Full BAB and caster progression" is an auto-no from my DM....

04-13-04, 06:02 PM It's in Faiths & Pantheons, and it's quite hard to get into — hard enough that full caster progression and BAB isn't unjustified in most cases. But if such classes are prohibited anyway, you might as well go straight cleric and take dips into Contemplative, etc.

Note that the 3.5 Realms version of Persistent Spell has been nerfed (if you're not playing FR, you've got at least another month of reprieve until Complete Divine comes out). In this case take Quicken Spell instead and buff yourself as you enter a big combat; it's still quite good.
