| Gruffmug04-21-05, 07:48 PM | It possible to get 6 Sacred mind (lords of madness)/ 9 illithid slayer(XPH). I think that the these classes combine with great synergy and would make the PC an illithids worst nightmere. I am surprised I have not seen more on this new Psionic PrC here. both have full BAB and sacred mind has full manifestor levels that tops out at 6th level. It also gets to do smites to abbrations. Having looked again at the Sacred mind, it seems to have low entry requirements. +3 or 4 BAB iron will a few skill at low ranks it seems that a human psion 4/ ranger 1 could gain access. So a Psi warrior4/ranger1/ Sacred mind 6/ Illithid Slayer 9 would be the best psionic gish out there. Bab 19 and 18 caster levels! The class itself has nice benifits SR 5+cl full manifester levels (6) Full BAB smite abberation, wis to hit and +1d6 sacred mind level to damage tenticle defence, a bonus to escape artist/grapple test equal to cl disruptive strike, renders a psionic being unable to manifest powers for a few rounds. The interesting thing about this class is that the way it is presented. It makes a precedent of saying +1 caster is the same thing as +1 manifestor level! does this open the door for all PRCs that could make sense for a psion to take? Gruffmug |
| Marcus Smythe04-21-05, 08:03 PM | You know, rather than my 'taking my Kineticist into a Gish' discussion, I think I'm going to take Leadership, get this guy as a follower, and let my main die. Very, very, very impressive. |
| Zemyla04-21-05, 08:38 PM | So this would mean that I could take Cerebremancer and improve my manifesting capability by 2 each level? |
| jstorrie04-21-05, 08:39 PM | Guhhhhh. Don't progress PsyWar manifesting. Progress Psion or Wilder manifesting. Yuck. |
| jstorrie04-21-05, 08:40 PM | So this would mean that I could take Cerebremancer and improve my manifesting capability by 2 each level? No. Cerebremancer progresses one manifesting class and one arcane spellcasting class. |
| Marcus Majarra04-21-05, 08:43 PM | I still prefer my Meteor Strike psionic gish: Half-Giant Fighter 8 / Psychic Warrior 2 / War Mind 10 Feats are: Dodge Mobility Combat Expertise Spring Attack Whirlwind Attack Power Attack Improved Bull Rush Shock Trooper Knockback Leap Attack Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Spiked Chain Combat Reflexes Speed of Thought Improved Trip Key Powers: Expansion Psionic Lion's Charge Basically, you psionic lion's charge in the fray, and strike every target within 20 feet (or 30 feet with augmented expansion) for 6x your BAB in bonus damage to everyone. You also get to bull rush every target for free with 2x your BAB as a bonus on the opposed roll, and you can direct the bull rushes so that your opponents run into one another for free trip attempts. What's more, on the initial strike, you also get a free attack on one adjacent target per opponent attacked with your Whirlwind Attack. That's my kind of psionic gish. |
| Jairami04-23-05, 09:26 PM | This is really good stuff. Do you have a thread for this build where its intricasies are explained? |
| Neb Rybel04-23-05, 10:10 PM | Guhhhhh. Don't progress PsyWar manifesting. Progress Psion or Wilder manifesting. Yuck. And how exactly were you planning on acquiring all the Psychic Warrior powers that you wanted? It would require at least 3 or 4 uses of Expanded Knowledge. |
| catharz04-23-05, 10:22 PM | And how exactly were you planning on acquiring all the Psychic Warrior powers that you wanted? It would require at least 3 or 4 uses of Expanded Knowledge. I asked Customer Service about this one: You can use the 'research power' psion ability to teach yourself powers from other class lists (and disciplines). The problem is it takes a crapton of XP for the higher level ones. |
| lokkesmadr04-23-05, 10:23 PM | Which Psychic Warrior powers, specifically, were you wanting to have? Seems that there's very few that you positively can't do without in a combat oriented build. Especially when you manifest as an 18th level Egoist and can toss around Greater Metamorphosis EDIT: As far as craptons of XP go, that's the main reason the Thought Bottle exists isn't it? To make XP expenditure a non-issue and provide an utterly game-breaking mechanic? |

To make XP expenditure a non-issue and provide an utterly game-breaking mechanic? Game-breaking is like CO's evil twin (no, it isn't CD :P). The two are mutually exclusive. Once the game is broken, you can't optimize. You can only wish for more wishes... |
| lokkesmadr04-23-05, 11:01 PM | That's probably why you see it so often in Emancipated Spawn builds. Thinking about it, I'm suprised we haven't seen a horrible circular levelling process using a Thought Bottle with Emancipated Spawn and Illithid Savant levels. It'd be, like, so kewl. You could, like, have every ability from every class and every monster and, like, you could completely 0wn the monsters and, like, y'know, win D&D and stuff. It'd rock!!1!!one!! *ahem* |
