What would be the better entry to abjurant champion? I have to enter as a Ranger (I know, no spellsword dip :( )

Ranger2/Conjurer6/Abj Champ 5

or

Ranger1/Conj6/EK1/Abj Champ 5

or Ranger1/Conj5/KnghtPhantom2/Abj Champ 5

Is there a list of low/mid level spells that the abj champ ability would apply? All I can think of is Sheild off the top of my head.

Knight Phantom is here:

Well, as a Ranger, something like Rgr2/Wiz2/HumanParagon3 gets you in, but you're already down 3 caster levels, meaning you can't take Eldritch Knight later without losing access to 9th level spells.

Rgr2/Wiz6 works but it's not much fun. Then I guess you just go 5 Abj Champ levels and run out in EK... gets you 17th level casting and 4 attacks so it's technically feasible, it just stinks to have to take so many Wizard levels.

Why do you start with Human paragon first there?

What about the school specialist PrC from Complete mage? better than straight Wiz levels at least, and quick to qualify.

What was the requirements? I'm at work, and don't have Complete Arcane here....

Are you suggesting a 1-2 level dip and then go to abjurant champ?

ranger1/fighter1/wizard4/spellsword1

won't this give me an XP penalty?

How about Rang1/Wiz6/EK1/AbChamp5/EK2-7? This gives a BAB of +16 and CL of 18. Not too bad...

Hopefully there will be some gishy ranger in complete scoundrel, or at least a gish/skill monkey that I can dip in and then pick up AbChamp.

Requirements:
2nd level arcane spells
must be specialist wizard
Know (arcana) 5 ranks
spellcraft 5 ranks
spell focus (school of specialization)

Yes, a level 3 wizard can qualify.

full casting PrC, 4th level gives your summoned creatures extra hp=CL if you're a conjurer. 7th and 10th give other school based abilites.
So, I'd suggest a 4 level dip, if you can stomach it.

won't this give me an XP penalty?Depends on your race...if your race makes your favored class Wizard (elf, human, half elf), then no. If your race makes your favored class Fighter or Ranger, then yes.

I like the Battle Sorcerer varient 4/Paladin 2/ Abjurant Champion 5/EK 10 for a rather nice build

19 BAB
Charisma as amulti-use stat
17 levels of casting. (sure, down a spell per day and a spell known at every level)
Casting in light armor.
Good saves from Paladin.

And if I learn to read the OP, Ranger works well too.

Yeah, I saw that combo this weekend. 8 levels of a wizard is pretty brutal gishwise, and your max BAB is only +15 if you took 5 levels of EK, with a CL of 18.

If I went Human Ranger1/Wiz6/EK1/AbCH5/EK7 I'd have a BAB+16 and CL of 18. Not too bad....

From the PHB:

Shield.

Lame, I know.

Ectomplasmic Armor from the Spell Compendium works too.

edit: removed Protection from Evil. Stupid deflection bonuses...

I think Protection from Evil had the wrong type of bonus...so that leaves just Shield.

This has been gone through before several times -- there ought to be a link to it somewhere.

You can add:

Greater Deflect: PHB2
Luminous Armor and Greater Luminous Armor: BoED

There are also some Shadowcaster mysteries that apply when cast as spells, but that's a hard build to pull off with Abjurant Champion (see here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=770275)).
