i want to play a sabretooth guy as my next char. the game is starting at 1st level and pretty much any book is allowed except psionics, incarnum and any non-wotc. for race i was leaning towards human with a feral template from savage species as the dm says we can start with up to +2 la or another avenue is the shifter race from ebberon.

when it comes to class i dont know, barbarian would be cool and in keepin with the theme of sabretooth but as i want to be all about the claws maybe fighter or monk is better for all the unarmed stuff?

we are using 32 point buy from the dmg for our abilities and are allowed a masterwork weapon or a potion, scroll or a couple of one use achemical items as free starting equipment.

we also get one bonus extra feat for free from the players handout he made but these are more for flavour than anything else.

a few things to keep in mind-
i dont like caster classes much and want to be a magic hating physical prowess guy for this game, so no spell using for this build, magic items are ok. i want to use my natural claw attacks only and dont want to use any weapons other than those the char is born with.

thanks

As posted above, The King of Smack is the way to go for claws.

Add in metaphysical and power claws so you can cut through anything.

For the regeneration end, Vampiric Claws power or get Combat Vigor for true fast healing, albeit very limited durations.

Leap Attack seems like it fits Wolverine too. Maybe powerful/reckless charge too.

Lastly, Wolverine seems to have a huge intimidate ability. Take a level of Warblade to get a Diamond Mind strike and the Unnerving Calm Feat. Then you can Intimidate with your Concentration skill check instead of burning skill points.

psionics is about the only thing we dont use. i hate magic users anyway, is there anyway to do this without becoming a spellcaster?

the free bonus feat I'm starting out with is

street tough

gives a +2 to intimidate checks and 50% chance of becoming stable instead of 10%.

See if you're DM will let you use the Bladed Gauntlets from Sword and Fist. If he's cool with that, see if s/he'll let you make them spring-loaded so you can retract them like wolverine.

Other than that, I'd consider a Ftr/Bar/Frenzied Berserker with a Ring of Regeneration.

Either way...just my 2 cp

Templates are your friend.

Feral template+Mineral Warrior template+some sort of melee class.

if i went feral shifter barbarian with all the shifters feats that improve a claw using shifters natural attacks, would that be any good as the main tank of the group?

or should i go ranger or fighter with two weapon fighting? the rangers track and stuff is very wolverine.

whats the best way for me to improve my natural claw attacks?
