best shapechange for monk [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-27-05, 07:20 PM what is the best creature a monk could turn into (max of 50 hit die)?
(using non Forgotten Realm, Ebberon, Dragon Magazine)
just the basic books like monster manual 1+2+3, epic hb, complete series, libris mortis, races of destiny, heroes of battle, draconomicon, etc

not sure what info is needed so if anything is needed that would change what it would be please say what info you would need.

just incase this matters, my char doesn't need food/air/water/sleep, and uses his fists mostly
and is pure monk type classes (has max unarmed damage)

12-27-05, 07:36 PM Anything that gives you lots of natural attacks and/or supernatural abilities. Big T would be fun, but I'd recommend dragons.

12-27-05, 08:43 PM If you have MM1&2 then a Half-Dragon/Half-Stone Golem with two stone arms. You don't have fingers anymore, but that doesn't matter, does it? :D

2 claws, 2 wings, bite, tail, poison (first effect 1d6 cos, secondary effect ---> DEATH <---), and all other things.

assuming no objects and no feats for other attacks (wich you sure have, but i'm making the worst condition possible), your flurry will do 11 attacks.

12-27-05, 10:42 PM Well, if you're a grappler style monk, go with the Boneyard from LM, that way you just kill every enemy in two rounds.

If you have access to sandstorm, go with Marruspawn Abomination, and if you have Frostburn go with Shivhad (mmmmm, drain every ability score with every hit......)

12-27-05, 11:01 PM There are a bunch of epic creatures that you could try. Gibbering Orb (for the 24 eye rays per round)? Shadow of the Void (to create all the 32 HD Winterwight slaves you want)?

all of these are great, and most are tougher than their CR lists them at...
