| Archades10-09-04, 02:26 PM | Can anyone come up with a better smite user build? Going for the general killing of things evil. Charisma a must for best stat, needless to say. human paladin6/fist of raziel10/pious templar 4 feats: 9 (7 natural, 1 pt, 1 human) power attack (prereq) servant of the heavens (prereq) improved smiting extra smiting divine might sanctify martial strike (from fist of raziel) w.focus (prereq) w.spec (bonus from pious templar) improved crit true believer (prereq) divine shield thats five smites from fist of raziel, two from paladin, two from extra smiting, and one from pious templar. For the single templar smite, the attack bonus is +4, but the damage is +20 (plus the numerous normal bonuses). Thats ten total smites a day. The fist of raziel abilities alone make for a ridiculous smite. Thats a good aligned, holy, confirming, fiend-smiting, chaining smite that adds +1d6 damage, plus the normal level/charisma bonuses. Throw in divine might, too, to take advantage of that charisma. But, i'm sure something worse is out there, right? |

You get caster level 19 for the cleric, the Fist's class goodies, 20 level of smite. Just choose a War and Destruction domain. |

| Tenken10-10-04, 12:59 AM | Doesnt it specifically state somewhere that cleric levels do *not* stack for this purpose? Oh wow, you're right, didn't realize that :/ Oh well. |
| Archades10-10-04, 11:27 PM | Still, 19 cleric caster levels would destroy just about anything, especially combined with the FoR's BA and hp and whatnot... |
| SolitudeSeraph10-10-04, 11:37 PM | Doesnt it specifically state somewhere that cleric levels do *not* stack for this purpose? No it doesn't I just checked.. You could go Cleric 7/Prestiege Paladin 3/Fist of Raziel 10.....18th CL, 6 Smiting Attempts (5 from Fist of Raziel Smiting and 1 from Paladin), Detect Evil, Divine Grace, Divine Health, Aura of Courage, and two crappy abilities (lay on hands and special mount) Also you can drop some Cleric Levels to get into Pious if you want..(don't know all the pre-reqs off hand) |
| malaegoth10-11-04, 02:47 AM | for straight up smiting, its pal10, FoR10, but for all around holy asskicking, the prestige paladin build that seraph dropped is your best bet. |
| darczero10-11-04, 04:07 AM | Second paragraph, Last sentence, under the Fist of Raziel Smite Evil: This ability does not stack with the Smite ability granted by the Destruction domain. I've pointed it out somewhere before... Paladin is the beginning, and Fist of Raziel is another step along the way... Tie in Spirited Charge, a Lance, and make your Smite Evil when charging. I don't know how well that would work in straight 3.5, but the possibility is good so far. |
| Timespike10-11-04, 10:01 AM | For extra "THWACK!" try mixing a casting of divine sacrifice in with divine might and smite evil. It works rather nicely. Stirring in resounding blow and quell the profane is also a nice touch. And don't forget the improved smiting feat from complete divine. So now we have: smite is +20 + 2d6 (holy) + 1d6 (improved smiting) + 2 (weapon specialization) + (strength modifier) + (charisma modifier) + 5d6 + on a critical hit, possible cowering and possibly 1d4+1 points of strength damage. And that's not even a power attack... OW! Oh, and by the way, for the build, I think I'd rather go this route: Level 1 Paladin 1 Servant of the Heavens, True Believer Level 2 Paladin 2 Level 3 Paladin 3 Weapon Focus (Greatsword) Level 4 Paladin 4 Level 5 Paladin 5 Level 6 Pious Templar 1 Power Attack Level 7 Pious Templar 2 Level 8 Pious Templar 3 [Weapon Specialization] Level 9 Pious Templar 4 Resounding Blow, Quell the Profane Level 10 Pious Templar 5 Level 11 Fist of Raziel 1 Level 12 Fist of Raziel 2 Cleave Level 13 Fist of Raziel 3 Level 14 Fist of Raziel 4 Level 15 Fist of Raziel 5 Extra Smiting Level 16 Fist of Raziel 6 Level 17 Fist of Raziel 7 Level 18 Fist of Raziel 8 Improved Smiting Level 19 Fist of Raziel 9 Level 20 Fist of Raziel 10 |
| bborne10-11-04, 11:43 AM | I think that spirited charge/deadly charge is a must when you are smiting. Adding 2 levels of Cavalier you smite only at +18, but you use a x4 multiplier (x5 on a critical). Uusing power attack you can go for crazy ammounts of damage. |
| Khazra Reborn10-11-04, 02:50 PM | An ex-paladin1/blackguard11/samurai9 is an impressive smiter. Take a blackguards sword (BoVD) & add +10 to your smite evil damage  .With a good cha kai smite is very effective. |
