Best Spell Choices for Divine Magician? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-14-07, 08:47 PM As the title says, what would be the best spell choices for Cleric with the Divine Magician feature who wants to focus on Necromancy?

I'm thinking these:
0: Disrupt Undead
1: Chill Touch
2: Command Undead (Sweet)
3: Halt Undead
4: Enervation
5: Magic Jar
6: Revive Undead
7: Awaken Undead
8: Horrid Wilting
9: Wail of the Banshee

Suggestions?

I'd take Ray of Enfeeblement over Chill Touch.

Arcane Sight or Nondetection over Halt Undead?

Mindblank over Horrid Wilting (unless you're taking the undead type somehow). You have better attack spells.

Is there any way for Spectral Hand to be taken as a 3rd level spell, say? For example, could an Extended Spectral Hand be the 3rd level slot? 'Cause that's be badass... or, better yet, why not make Extended Command Undead the 3rd level slot. That's rock.

If that's true, then that actually opens a lot of options... how about
0: Disrupt Undead
1: Detect Secret Doors
2: Command Undead (Sweet)
3: Nondetection
4: Enervation
5: Magic Jar
6: Revive Undead
7: Awaken Undead / Control Undead ?
8: Mindblank / Avascular Mass ?
9: Mordenkainen's Disjunction / Wail of the Banshee ?

02-15-07, 07:46 AM I don't think you get 0-level spells as part of the substitution. But who cares?

Here's what I have chosen so far for my Divine Magician (remember, you don't have to decide ahead of time what spells to pick - you pick them when the spell level becomes available):

1 Ray of Enfeeblement
2 Spectral Hand
3 Arcane Sight
4 Otiluke's Supressing Sphere
5 Rary's Telepathic Bond
6 Globe of Invulnerability
