| Redding MTG Player04-27-06, 01:17 PM | I was just wondering what the CO board opinion is on the best choice for strait combat at each level of the spell, whether to go for more lower level summons or one big one and which creature to choose. |
| ShubNiggurath04-27-06, 01:37 PM | You should look at Uberling's druid handbook. I'll post here the part that you need: [quote] 1st: Wolf 2nd: Hippogriff 3rd: Dire Wolf 4th: Brown Bear or Giant Crocodile 5th: d3 Brown Bears or Giant Crocodiles 6th: Huge Earth Elemental 7th: d3 Huge Earth Elementals 8th: d4+1 Huge Earth Elementals 9th: d4+1 Greater Earth Elementals [\quote] If you have feats that improve your summons (like augmented summoning) in general it is better to summon more animals of lesser level (an exception would be SNA II: an hippogriff is better than 1d3 wolves) Obviously, if you are not summoning for combat, or in other particular situations (like flying foes, and so on) you should choose something ad hoc |
| Caelic04-27-06, 04:37 PM | Dire Weasels. Don't forget the Dire Weasels. Pseudonatural Dire Weasels are even better. I used this trick on my DM once...only once. Since then, we have an armistice: I won't use them on him, and he won't use them on the party. |
| PhoenixInferno04-27-06, 08:34 PM | Unicorns are also good for healing purposes and its Prot. from Evil aura is handy in a fight, but its not the best damage dealing form. |
| Mr. Dog04-27-06, 10:47 PM | When you have Augment Summoning and Greenbound Summoning, just summon the highest number of creatures you can unless you're fighting things well above your CR. Maybe even then. |

Pick up a few levels of Black Blood Hunter to retain the attach ability while in hybrid form and we're in business. |
