Just looking to see if any one has a real killer combo involving the Empower metamagic feat and a 0-, 1- or 2nd level spell (does not have necessarily be damage, more interested in overall effect,) preferably arcane. If such a list or thread all ready exists, I would appreciate a gentle push in the right direction, Google is returning too many hits to be useful. Thanks! |

Both are good because there are no saving throws allowed. By the time you have 5th level spells, an Empowered Ray of Enfeeblement followed by a Quickened Ray of Enfeeblement is still a great opening attack. Hope this helps! Ithandor |

You could use empower with Magic missile, but the result would not probably be worth it. But empowered Ray of Enfeeblement is very, very good at low and even mid levels. It's really good to soften tough foes with a huge strenght penalty. |

Ithandor Just as a note, Ray of Enfeeblement gives a negative enhancement bonus. Becuase it's not actually ability damage or drain it doesnt stack with itself. You just get whichever is a higher total. However I do agree that empowered RoE is a nice 3rd lvl spell. |

Empowered Ray of Enfeeblement is generally very effective, but don't assume it will incapacitate the enemy. My Living Greyhawk sorcerer learned the hard way that even when you reduce a Huge red dragon's strength by 15, it's still much better at grappling than a Str-8 sorcerer. For a spontaneous caster, it's nice to have some way to power-up the L1 spells that you keep for situations when all else fails. Empowered Magic Missile is probably the best L3 spell you'll find for killing incorporeals, barring the Transdimensional Spell feat. Empowered Lesser Orbs are great if you're attacking something with extremely high SR or spell immunity, and your scorching rays and rays of enfeeblement won't get through. |

| kjenks12-24-05, 09:14 AM | Empowered Magic Missile is decent. Empowered Lesser Orb of Fire is better in some situations. Empowered Scorching Ray is better still. Empowered Mirror Image is nice, depending on how your DM treats that maximum; if he rules that Empowered Mirror Image has the same maximum as regular Mirror Image, there's not much point in using Empower Spell here. (There's an entry changing this spell in the Main 3.5e FAQ.) Empowered Chill Touch applies your Empower Spell feat to each touch, but, well, you have to be in touching range, and that's bad for most spellcasters. Empowered Melf's Acid Arrow also applies your Empower Spell feat each round, and you don't have to be so close. Empowered Touch of Idiocy is fun to cast on an enemy spellcaster. Empowered Sonic Weapon is nice to cast on your melee buddy's weapon. Empowered Hypnotic Pattern can fascinate more HD of creatures, but, well, it's a sucky spell to begin with and using Empower Spell doesn't help it much. |

| Caelic12-25-05, 12:37 PM | How 'bout Empowered Shivering Touch? |
