| maghana10-07-05, 10:33 AM | Hi, What is the best way to apply 'Necrotic Cyst' (LM p68). More to the point, how do I circumvent SR, saves etc. in the easiest possible way ? Perhaps making this spell into a Su ability, but are there any 'cheap' (not to many PrC levels) way of doing that ? - or any other ideas ? Tia, - maghana. |

All of the Necrotic Cyst spells allow a Fort. save, but once they have a cyst, they have a penalty to all their saves against Necromancy effects. So if you can get a high Fort. save person to fail their first save the rest of the spells get easier. I would look at the spells Bestow Curse, Unluck, and Doom. Bestow Curse is a Will save and can be used to give an opponent a -4 penalty on all saves, and Unluck makes them reroll all d20s and use the worst result. Granted, that's a lot of spells to be trying to use on someone in combat, so this would work best if you can have an allied spellcaster cast the save reducing spells for you, and/or you have Divine Metamagic Quicken. I combined the two with a True Necromancer character I had once by giving him the Leadership feat for a cleric ally to cast Doom, and having Divine Metamagic Quicken. Also, you might get good mileage out of trying to set up surprise situations or casting the spells outside of combat (spreading the cysts around just in case, makes sense with Necrotic Scrying). |
