Interested2 05-14-05, 10:35 AM	Well, I'm drawing up a character concept, and I found what I'm looking for in a character - the only problem is, it's effected by Sunlight spells like a vampire is. Specifically, this idea is an Awakened Ooze. What's the best way to get immunity to sunlight and thus get around this major hurdle? This would be useful for any ooze character, actually, as Sunburst and Sunbeam and similar spells do a HUGE amount of damage to them.
PhaedrusXY 05-14-05, 11:55 AM	There is some kind of cream in Libris Mortis that vampires can use to protect them temporarily from Sunlight (SPF 5000!). You could also just go around all the time with a Deeper Darkness spell centered on you. Of course, you have to worry about someone dispelling it.
lokkesmadr 05-14-05, 12:13 PM	One of the most handy ways of dealing with sunlight if you have access to arcane magic is the 6th level spell Shadow Canopy (RoF). It's similar to a normal darkness spell except from the inside it's penetrated by darkvision, making it much less of a pain for your party-mates
Zsasz_Diedne 05-14-05, 06:53 PM	Along with the above and any future solution you might decide on, get the Endure Sunlight feat (LM), and have a high charisma. Good backup.
BrainMole 05-30-05, 08:04 AM	Wasn´t there a old magic item or spell which protected from sunlight? I´m thinking it was in Magic of Faerun. Drow domain spell/Darkness domain... Cloak of Darkness? Check that out
runestar 05-30-05, 09:24 AM	There's a cleric spell in lords of darkness that granted immunity to sunlight, ultra short duration though, but a cleric with divine metamagic should be fine-it was designed for vampires, but should work fine on other creatures.
Interested2 05-30-05, 09:55 AM	You're right - "Night's Mantle", level 4 cleric spell. So we grab an item of continuous Heightened (9th) Night's Mantle for 306,000gp ...that's a lot. So lets see...crafting it ourselves brings the creation price down to 153,000gp, make it useable only by clerics, that drops it to 107,100gp, maybe Magical Artisan to drop that even further down to 80,325gp. Edit - You know, it just occured to me what an amazingly fun character an Awakened Reekmurk Cleric of Lathandar would be....sunlight vulnerability, yet uses sunlight attacks....
Lechrist 06-03-05, 04:08 AM	There's the spell Cloak of Dark Power from the forgotten realms campaign setting... It last 1 minute per level... the only problem is it is only a first level spell in the drow domain, but making it as an object is easy enough...
Acirema 06-03-05, 06:46 AM	The feat AnySpell (I think that's what it is) Would be able to get you Cloak of Dark Power, or Any other spell you wanted to cast, no matter who can and can't gain access to it. That or taking Arcane disciple if you are an arcane caster, or Extra Domain if you are a divine caster. :D
