| Swrdsinger10-23-06, 02:35 AM | I have a chance to make any weapon i want with a bill of 40,000 or less. it has to be a bastard sword, and it should be goo alligned. Other than that, anything goes. All books are available. Most of our opponents are undead and/or evil outsiders, so bear that in mind. Holy seemed like a good place to start, but I'm sure theres something awesome out there that I've never heard of . . . |
| GaffeR10-23-06, 02:52 AM | +1 Undead Bane, Evil Outsider Bane, Valorous (if you charge a lot) Bastard Sword. Valorous is from Unnaproachable East. There's some DMG2 stuff that lets you add effects for 2k a pop. Adamantine is a possibility if you like sundering. |
| RellenMarn10-23-06, 02:56 AM | If you can get away with it consider making it an undead bane adamantine intelligent item. Give it a few lesser powers like bless, faerie fire, and Cure Moderate wounds. All of the powers are usable 3/day and the sword takes an action not you to use them. It casts bless you charge and attack with it, it heals you as you make full round attacks. Plus you get fun RP goodness. |
| Swrdsinger10-23-06, 03:06 AM | The intelligent option sounds like a blast. I'm leaning towards a +1 Holy, Undead Bane, Adamantine sword at the moment. What are some of the 2,00 a pop effects? Also, any thoughts on a keen/blessed combo? Bledded(BoED) Auto-comfirms crits on evil stuff, pluss is good aligned. |
| X-Codes10-23-06, 03:21 AM | Also, any thoughts on a keen/blessed combo? Bledded(BoED) Auto-comfirms crits on evil stuff, pluss is good aligned. It doesn't work. Blessed doesn't work if there are any other critical-altering enhancements on the same weapon (including bursts). This doesn't prevent you from doing a +1 Blessed Collision sword, however. In addition, Improved Critical still works with a Blessed weapon. |
| Swrdsinger10-23-06, 03:43 AM | Ah boo. Well thanks for the info. Any idea what those 2000 a pop enhancements are? |
| GaffeR10-23-06, 03:59 AM | Brutal Surge, Sudden Stunning, Caustic Surge, etc. Go open a DMG 2. |
| Swrdsinger10-23-06, 03:43 PM | Cool. Thanks! |
| carnivore10-23-06, 03:56 PM | or try this: +1 Holy Magebane Bastard Sword with Parrying cost 40335gp Parrying: A parrying weapon perceives an instant into the future, and of its own accord resists melee and ranged attacks aimed at the wielder, granting a +1 insight bonus to the wielder’s Armor Class. The weapon is so adept at parrying that it even affects incoming powers, granting the wielder a +1 insight bonus on saving throws. The bonuses are granted whenever the wielder holds the weapon, even if flat-footed. Faint clairsentience; ML 5th; Craft Psionic Arms and Armor, defensive precognition; Price +8,000 gp. or for under 40000gp +1 Holy Magebane Adamantine Bastard Sword 35000gp :D |
| Tyrrell10-23-06, 04:38 PM | Rather than adamantine go for starmetal from the complete warrior. It acts exactly like starmetal including penetrating DR but also does an extra 1d6 versus outsiders. IIRC the cost is 5000gp so you'd still be able to fit in +4 worth of enchantments. |
| Seerow10-23-06, 04:46 PM | a +1 Metalline Sure Striking weapon costs 32,000 GP Never worry about DR again, unless it's /piercing or /bludgeoning. My favorite weapon is a +1 Metalline Sure Striking Morphing Aptitude Weapon. (+6 equivalent, needs 72,000 GP). Take EWP(Bastard Sword) or some other EWP feat, and instantly have every Exotic Weapon in the game at your disposal, as well as bypassing any DR type you like. Definitely nice. |
| nekoryuu10-23-06, 05:36 PM | Personally, I'd go with a +1 Skillful(+2) Morphing(+1) Sizing(+1) sling. Add Metalline when you get the extra cash. Morphing and Sizing are obvious, and Skillful ensures that you can use it. Only works for melee weapons though :( On that note, what's Aptitude in? I couldn't find it in the index... |
| Seerow10-23-06, 05:42 PM | It's in Tome of Battle. Basically does what Skillful does, but better. Except it doesn't give Medium BAB. +1 Enhancement. |
| PhaedrusXY10-23-06, 05:49 PM | It's in Tome of Battle. Basically does what Skillful does, but better. Except it doesn't give Medium BAB.How is that better? I thought that was the main reason people used Skillful weapons. Look Ma! My Rogue/Monk/Commoner/Hulking Hurler has medium BAB! :P |
| Lyinginbedmon10-23-06, 06:46 PM | Depending on DM-set limitations, you can add +2000 GP and get a use-activated 1-minute weapon shift effect, which basically means you can turn, say, a Quarterstaff into a Scythe, whilst retaining all the special abilities and materials of the Quarterstaff (A Keen Flaming Burst Adamantine Quarterstaff can therefore become a Keen Flaming Burst Adaamantine Anything, provided the weapon shifted meets the prerequisites for all of the abilities) |
| Seerow10-23-06, 06:48 PM | How is that better? I thought that was the main reason people used Skillful weapons. Look Ma! My Rogue/Monk/Commoner/Hulking Hurler has medium BAB! Because if I was using it it'd be with a Crusader/Warblade, Fighter, or Divine Caster. All of whom have full BAB (effectively in the case of a divine caster). Aptitude is there to give EWP with every weapon ever, and possibly extra benefits if you blew feats on specialization. |
