Hey guys,

I am looking to build an NPC BBEG for my campaign. He can be level 30 and he must be a wizard (with any PRC's). I want to make the best build for beating other wizards in wizard duels.

I am considering focusing on counterspelling, is this effective?

I am trying to shy away from the evoker build because it is so easy to counter.

What is the best school for dueling?

BTW, only PHB, DMG and the Forgotten Realms books are allowed. NO "Complete" series.

Thanks in advance,

Wizard 8
Wild Mage10
Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil7
Fatespinner5

Focus on Initiative feats in addition to pre-reqs and metamagic. Get that Init as high as possible so as to go first. If it's a non-lethal duelist, grab Nonlethal Substiution as well. Do the standard Time Stop, and summon as many small gribblies with one spell as possible around you, to become target-bait via random deflector. Put up the usual wizard defences, and Wildstrike the opponent to screw with their spell casting. If/when the other wizard throws up a bunch of defences, hit them with Kaleidoscopic Doom and laugh.

I will definitely max out the dex and take imp init and epic imp init.

The prc's that you mention are all banned in the game however.

How about the magelord PRC from Lost empires of Faerun?
