Okay, I need to build the best fighting character for some PVP battles my group is having. The rules are core only, no PrCs, no spellcasting at all, (including UMD of wands/staves/scrolls.) We are using standard array and are 20th level.

What class/race/feats/items/etc. do i need to be the best?

I suggest bald-faced cheating and outright attempts to destroy the character sheets of your opponents. Punch the largest one full in the face and watch the cowards be shamed into silence, seizing the initiative and forcing them to accept your best-osity.

With core only this is going to come down to one main thing dice rolls. As for cheating I'm all for that in this case core only is like saying that there are no specialist where you are from. All you have a standard unadorned fighting style that a third of the fighters are going to have. That being said what is the battle ground like? If you have movement room go monk with ranged. If it's close quarters go dwarf barb. VArying degrees of room generally leads to rogue/fighters that fire from cover and move away/into. A spring attack monk can be sick at 20th with some very nice damage unarmed and dimension door......

Go Ranger/Horizon Walker and get DimDoor + a Bow.

You use no magic, just your sl-ability...

Damn, missed the "no PrC" rule.

Well, then just go pixie rogue...

Are magic items allowed?
If yes, the whole "no spellcasting" rule is a little strange.

I think you should buy as many command-word activated equivalents of the Rod of Wonder that you can. Also: Make-sure they're all activated with the same command word.
