| SmiloDan03-14-04, 08:28 AM | What is the best 8th level Wildshape form for melee combat? It can be any small, medium, or large animal of 8 HD or less. Rhinoceras is pretty damn good if you're charging! But a Tiger has pounce, which is 5 attacks... And I think Brown Bear is the strongest... No dinosaurs please. |
| RabidWeasel03-14-04, 09:12 AM | Dire lion is nice at 8th level, as is dire ape; the stronger of the two depends on your equipment. Dire lion has 5 attacks at 1d6+7/1d6+7/1d8+3/1d6+3/1d6+3 when pouncing, which when combined with a 40 ft. move is rather effective. |
| Boo03-14-04, 02:41 PM | Its either the Dire Lion or the Brown/Polar Bear. If you are fighting things that cant grapple well you might as well use the Dire lion since you get 2 extra attacks provided you hit and grapple with the bite. The Bear's strength is only 2 more than the Lion's anyways. |

| Sisyfos03-14-04, 05:10 PM | Wildshape did have the limitation, that you had to be familiar with the form you want to become, right? That being said, I've never seen ape of legend in our games and it cannot be summoned either. So I just see no way to be able to wildshape into one without some serious fieldwork research. Yet everyone is always recommending that every druid wildshape into just that form. Sisyfos |

Aside from the animal lord class I don't know of any other way of wild shaping into a legendary form without actually seeing the creature first. Having said that, thats the source of a nice little adventure surely, that the DM could provide |
