hi, i need some help on making a really big character in a kinda playable way

the goal is getting as big as possible... colossal would fit really nice^^

now the drawbacks:
low cash (10k gp)
mid lvl (lvl13)
no psionics avaiable
not many templates avaiable

major notes:
want to get the biggest possible size
want to be that size most of the time OR at will OR as many times per day as possible (at least 3 id say)

well, thats pretty much it

please post with source name
all help will be very much appreciated

The Wu Jen (Wizard-like base class in Oriental Adventures and the Complete Arcane) is one possibility. It has a spell that increases your size, and I do believe Colossal is an option at higher levels.

It'd probably be better to go this route, as it's hard to join the party in town when you're, like, 70 feet tall. If you really want to be that big all the time, though, you might be able to get the spell Permancied.

Edit:
Or you could go Wu Jen/ Incantatrix instead, and just make it Persistent for all-day bigness. I think the Incantatrix is in the Player's Guide to Faerun.

hi nate, ty 4 the help so far, im really considering going the spell-caster way, cuz as you said 70 ft in town draws unecessary attention
the persistant way is also nice ^^

i'm also looking 4 feats 4 big chars and nice classes with nice bab and/or saves that can cast some size increasement spells

also any items that fit a colossal melee build ? whatever, im collecting any ideas

I'm afraid I can't help you with much in the way of details right now, Will; I don't have my books at hand. But I do have a couple of vague suggestions:

When you're that big, I don't think being a wimpy mage-type will be a problem for you as far as fighting goes. You'll get more than enough of a bonus to hit from your Str increase to make up for low BAB and the size penalty. If you do find yourself having trouble hitting medium and small enemies, just grapple 'em. It's a touch attack.

Hey, there's an idea. Enlightened Fist, an arcane-casting Monk PrC in the Complete Arcane. It'd even go well with the flavor of the Wu Jen. A Monk's unarmed strike at colossal size would be pretty scary. I'd recommend taking the Practiced Spellcaster feat (from the same book, I think) if you go that route, as the size you can reach with the spell in question scales with caster level, and you might not reach the level where you can be colossal otherwise.

Enlightened Fist won't let you Persist the spell, though, the way an Incantatrix could. That's the one real drawback for this sort of character. But an Incantatrix could take Improved Grapple, come to think of it, and make that your main attack...

Yeah, I think I'd recommend going one of these two routes:

Wu Jen/ Incantatrix with Improved Grapple, for Persistent size increase

or

Monk/ Wu Jen/ Enlightened Fist with Practiced Spellcaster, for better fighting capability.

thx a lot nate, actually one of my ideas was to possibly go as a colossal monk, but i already have a colossal monk build that is quite awsome, altough it makes use of psionism, and my @#%&$ new gm doesnt allow ^^

i havent tought about enlighted fist, ill give it a try
while reading it also came to me a hybrid build that i used to have for a wizcleric of mine, well, you helped a lot actually, cuz i started to remember things ^^

the main problem is i havent been playing for the las 6 or 7 months i think, so, u know, memory is a problem...

well, thx alot,

anyways ill be still be reading this post, so anyoe who feels like giving any hint will be helping ^^

Does your DM allow psionics? If so, I can highly recommend playing a Half Giant (XPH) with Expansion. Racially, you get Powerful Build which allows you to function (for the most part) as a creature one size larger. So, at Medium, you Bull Rush, Grapple, etc, as a Large creature, plus you can wield a weapon one size larger, too. A Large greatsword does 3d6+1.5Str.

With Expansion, at LV1 you get to be Large with a Huge weapon; at LV7 you get to be Huge with a Gargantuan weapon. You can wield a pole arm or spiked chain for insane Reach and manifest Bite of the Wolf to threaten everyone close. But I think Huge is the limit, so you can't go Colossal; and if your DM allows Monkey Grip and Powerful Build to stack, then you can wield a Colossal weapon.

It kind of is disproportional Str wise because most Huge creature have really high Str and Expansion only boost upto +4 when Huge. But you can augment with Animal Affinity; only another +4, though.

And I can speak highly of a Half Giant Barbarian / Psychic Warrior! Add in Charging and you're knocking everyone off the board.

Whoops! You're right. I forgot about that "non-lawful" thing.

So, the Incantatrix idea is definitely the better of the two options I suggested. ;)

There are some ideas in the Godzilla thread in my post. A lot of them use Psionics, but not all. Also, some of the tricks using Druids might not work after the recent errata.

Edit: Drat. Stupid alignment restrictions...

Would a sorcerer/monk be able to do this with Extra Spell (giant size)?
