i am fairly new to d & d and am trying to get some good ideas on how to make my druid stronger. i really love the verdant lord prestige class from masters of the wild. the problem is that i have to spend all of my feats and abilities to things that are not used very often and when they are used the opponents (plants) are not that strong. the hard thing about this class is that the only really useful stuff is the gaining the fighters attack bonuses while gaining all of my spells and being able to become a plant at 10th level. i am the healer of the group so i dont get to have vary many offensive spells and with my attack bonus i almost always hit. problem is i still suck on offense when it comes to damage. any suggestions on feats, maybe any decent items for not too high a price, or any other suggestions would be helpful.

We need to know more about your character to give good advice. Level, Feats, Campaign World, DM attitudes, etc. Can you wildshape yet? What's your Animal Companion?

Just off hand, Entangle and Summon Swarm is a very effective low level combination. If you can deal with the laughter, Bisons are powerful animal comanions.

Verdant Lord is cool, full casting progression and full BAB is always nice, but the granted abilities don't seem so special (aside from wild shape to treant). The prerequisite feats are so utterly worthless that you may want to reconsider that. Or talk to your DM - at the very least he may feel compelled to make some plant enemies for you to rebuke.

As for healing, get a few wands of Cure Light wounds... The best investment you'll ever make - no more wasting spells on those ungrateful characters. Do it now and never look back.

right now i am a 6th level druid and a 2nd level verdant lord. i have a brown bear animal companion and i also have improved initiative. i am a wood elf so i maxed my dex out and bought gloves of dex +2 to give me an effective dex of 22. this combined with a darkwood shield and leather armor (both +4) makes me somewhat invincible (34 AC with barkskin) i am about to get weapon finesse (sickle) to help hit with my high dex and my sickle is a +1 sickle of frost. i still do crappy damage though with it and am even looking maybe to just find something with an edge. example= our rogue has lenses of blindsight and also has multiclassed in wizard so that he can cast 3 or 4 darknesses a day. this works really well (its actually kind of cheap) but i thought about doing something like that only with an entangle ability or something. maybe something even plant related would be cool like a ring of entangle but soup it up so that it can be used indoors but only on one person. i dont know if i can do that though.

I think that giving a druid high Physical abilities is a waste, as I see it the Druid is really good when in wild shape, and in that form it gains the physical abilities of the animal chosen, so having 22 Dex is cool, but when you wildshape to a black bear you'll get 13...so I think is a waste, I'd get the MAX on Wis, and the Con or Int. Also I'd try to focus on wildshape combat stuff, like feats that allows to have scent and something to boost damage and AC while wildshaped.

Just my opinion

the 2nd level spell "green blockade" gets you a 20ft long (1ft thick) wall of plants. Depending on your dm you might be abel to cast green blockade in an area of the room, then follow up with entangle centered on the wall of plants.

if you are lucky then your dm will say that just a strip of plants will suffice for the growing vines to entangle everything in entangles area of effect...if you are unlucky you will have a 20ft long strip where entangle is active...

so just buy 2 wands and you are set.
