I'd like some help and opinions on this build I'm trying to min/max him the best I can but I'm not to sure about were to go with him. He'll be a frontline fighter with some spell backup. I'll be joining the game between lvls 4-5 but sense I'll be playing a drow i'll only be like 2-3. We used the 28 point buy system out of the DMG. The stats are after the racial adjustments.

Race: Drow
Str 16
Dex 10
Con 12
Int 10
Wis 14
Cha 16

Feats and lvls so far are
lvl 1 Ftr: Power Attack, Cleave
lvl 2 Clr: Lighting Refelexs (from drow domain)
lvl 3 Ftr: Divine Might, Weapon Focus (Greatsword)
lvl 4 Clr: -
lvl 5 Ftr: -
lvl 6 Clr: Sunder
lvl 7 Ftr: Weapon Speicalization (greatsword)
lvl 8-9 Blk: Improved Critical (greatsword)
lvl 10-12 Blk: Great Cleave
lvl 13-15 Blk: Leadership
lvl 16-17 Blk: -
I'm not to sure about these last few lvls if i should just add another lvl to cleric and round it out nice and even as 10 Blk/4 Ftr/4 Clr or should throw in another PrC to work on in Epic lvls. Ability wise I'll probly be putting all my stat increases into Cha for divine might and the like.
I'd really like some help with this as that I'm not very good at min/maxing, this build is mostly and idea to work from because my big deal is a drow blackguard with a greatsword, or some other big and very damaging sword. If anyone as good ideas on feats or possiable builds I'd greatly apperiacte them. My DM lets use pretty much anything thats from WotC so all splat books are fine. He normally lets us use FRs PrC as long as they don't have a speical regional requirement or make sesne for the character.

Thanks for any help with this character.

I wouldn't take the Cleric levels. Why? Clr4 is only going to give you 2nd level spells, which you'll surpass anyway with your Blackguard advancement.

Consider taking rogue or barbarian levels instead. Another class that works well with Blackguard is Warrior of Darkness - I think Bbn1/Ftr4/Blackguard5/WoD10 is a good build.

Cleric Levels really are a waste, your goal should be to get into Blackguard ASAP.

Leave Monkey Grip until later

Take the feats in this order:

Power Attack, Cleave, Sunder (Improved Sunder in 3.5 replaces the Blackguard requirement because Sunder is now a universal thing), Weapon Focus Greatsword, Monkey Grip (Greatsword), Mounted Combat, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Trample. Eventually take Nightmare Steed (They are soooo cool to ride!)

By level 2 you have all the requirements for Blackguard done, by level 4 you have Weapon Focus and Monkey Grip. At level 6 you can take Weapon Specialization in Greatsword if you want, but I would go Mounted Combat and Ride-By Attack.

At character level 7 is your first Blackguard level. At clvl 9, take Spirited Charge Then level as a Blackguard until at least level 5 (clvl 11). At clvl 12, take Nightmare Steed as your bonus.

If you play to continue this character into 3.5, continue as Blackguard (extra smite good in 3.5)

You can always return to Fighter for your last 4 levels.

But your Fiendish Companion (Nightmare after clvl 12) will be really strong! And the Mounted Combat stuff can make you a real terror of the sky! (Nightmares have Good Maneuverability, so they can hover just like a Hummingbird, well not just like... no wings) Trample will also allow your fieiry hooved mount to set your foes aflame!

Also consider squeezing Leadership in somewhere... Blackguards make great Evil Warlords.

Im doing a Drow Build right now for black guard and its starting to look really nice.

Rogue3/monk2/fighter2/Worrior of Darkness6/BlackGuard 7

after the first level of WoD, you can start takeing BG levels and mix those 2 up to level 20 as you like. I would go with 3 levels of BG for Divine Might as soon as possible.

I got 18 BAB. base saves are 17, 10, 11 and mixed with dark blessing, your total saves will be pretty high. Important stats are... Well all of them really, but Cha is a must and I would try and get them as high as possible.

I'lll post the build when Im done with it:D

In my eyes, an evil Blackguard who desires the pinnacle of power will find it by following up his Blackguard career by entering the Nar Demonbinder PrC (UE book).

Prefix6 / Blackguard7 / NarDemonbinder7

With this build, he will end up with 4 attacks @ BAB of 16 or 17 (Geomancer helps with the latter) and 8th level arcane spells. His emphasis on a high CHA for Blackguard's Divine Grace will benefit all his ND powers and spellcasting (for DC's and bonus spells).

Your prefix should be all levels that net you +1BAB/Level for maximum melee carnage potential. It will also help balance out the ND HD of d6 ... making you a potent melee spellcaster in your latter levels.

If this appeals to you, I can provide you more build-out information on this character archetype.

It is a very limited spell list and with all the good abilities you get from WoD, I like mine better. DR 5/+3 is also nice :D

Is this build forced to pick up Cosmopolitan or Educated for the Knowledge(The Planes) requirement? The full BAB prefix class(es) one I mean.

It is a very limited spell list and with all the good abilities you get from WoD, I like mine better.

It amazes me how people bash on the Demonbinder's spell list without even playing a NarD build and actually using those spells. If you have the slightest inkling of how to properly abuse Summon Monster spells and "Inimical Casted" family spells, you will be a potent force indeed. Remember, the NarD spells are a focused subset ... yet when you individually analyze each spell, you'll find a lot a lot of hidden gems in the mix. If you like dumb blaster spells, you'll find some of them too. But if you are smart, you'll see the folly in damage-causing spells and stick to the more utilitarian spells that complement your melee abilities.

***

Note, in your prefix, you will need the Education feat. Big whoop. If you play in a multi-genre hybrid campaign, the Ninja core class from OA/Rokugan will make your character even more of a superstar. Imagine a prefix of Ninja3/Ftr2/Barb1. With 3.5 Blackguard7 as a follow-up, you'll have +4d6 SA to complement the Chain you will be smartly using (you'll find this weapon in the OA or Savage Species book). No need to spend an EWP on it either - it's a Ninja class weapon.

Here's your scenario. If you have time to prep for a big battle, buff the daylights out of yourself with your Blackguard spells. Summon a big bad Celestial (I know, you are evil, but it's legal). Command the Celestial to buff you even further if he has spells you do not. Commence Combat.

Order the Celestial to work a flanking tactic against a potent foe. As he can probably fly and move faster than you, he'll probably become the hammer - you the anvil. With your buffing spells, Divine Might feat (CHA-to-Damage), Smite at the ready, and TWF-wielded Chain, you let loose into your flanked foe with multiple attacks and +4d6 SA. If this foe has his whole power base focused through a big-ass weapon, use your Chain THF-style and Sunder it (you had to take this feat for Blackguard).

You and your high-powered Celestial then clean house with the rest of the opposition. If at any time you are running low on HP, thank goodness Celestials all have cure spells. He's there to help you out freeing up your party's Cleric to do other more important things.

***

Now that you have a handle on the basic gist of the prefix and Blackguard, NarD can either be taken for the 7 level ride and let you enjoy focus on its Planar Binding powers (which are amazingly powerful abilities) ... or you can take NarD level 1, and choose 6 levels of PrC's to give you more tactical battlefield options.

Divine Oracle2 / Geomancer4 .......... is excellent! BAB +17. Up to 5 extra spells for you to cast, Evasion, Divinatory spellcasting level bonus, and 2 useful Drifts. Divination spells are perfect for you. Knowledge is king. By you being the party divinator, you free up up the Wiz and Cleric from allocating slots to such spells (which every party needs) so they can focus on other combat-specific spells.

Hope that helps. Blackguard Demonbinder is a match made in hell. Enjoy and crush your enemies with blissful ecstacy.
