I'm just looking for options here as I have just joined an evil campaign but what would your favorite Blackguard builds be (barring ex-paladin levels)?

One I came up with was Fighter 4/Rogue 3/Blackguard 9/Kensai 5. Definately a stereotypical Tyrant Blackguard with big pointy armor, big pointy shield and big hurty weapon. Evasion from rogue levels meshes nicely with Withstand off of Kensai as all your reflex saves are now skill checks. And power surge is just nasty. Probably take leadership and get a cohort with alot of magical ability to supplement you combat prowess. Rogue skills would focus on cha skills and getting enough hide to go into Blackguard...

So tell me what you think and give me some of your favorites. ^_^

I like the Ranger 6/Blackguard 10 build. You get to be blackguard sooner, you get a couple of favored enemies (one of your own race, cause you're evil), and you still have the highest base attack bonus. Alternatively, Barbarian 1/Ranger 1/Fighter 4/Blackguard 10 for rage, lots of feats, and still good skills.

Sorc7/Blackguard2/Spellsword1/Dragon Disciple10(Red).

Use Arcane Strike and Multi-Attack. You'll have awesome saves, str, con, cha, int. 4th lvl arcane spells. ability to wear armor. Afew cure spells. but my suggestion would be to arcane strike a foe while hitting 'em with a sudden maximized vampiric touch/claw attack. Ouch! Plus str bonus. I suggest never taking more than 2 levels of blackguard though. All you wanna get to are the bonus to saves. That's just the way I do it, if you prefer otherwise then have fun. Okay? Okay.

P.S. Just thought of this. Synergy with Power Attack and Bite attack. Use arcane Stike for your bite and Power Attack 'em at the same time. BAMM!!!!

Hexblade11 / Ftr2 / Barb1 / Blackguard3 / ExoticWeaponMaster3

This Bad Boy is a Spiked Chain Tripmeister ... who also uses his Power Attack and Imp. Sunder (via Blackguard) to good effect. The commonality of CHA-based class abilities between Hexblade and Blackguard is too good to pass up.

The build starts off with the Jotenbrud/Wolf Berserker/Imp. Trip combo (which are benefitted by the Greater Hexvlade Curse in opposed Trip check rolls). Then segues into Power Attack/Imp. Sunder/Divine Might. It finishes up with 3 EWM class abilities - Flurry, Exotic Sunder, & Trip Attack Bonus.

Aura of Despair and Greater Hexblade Curse combo nicely. So do the 2 "CHA Mod.-to-Saves".

snow, you sure do love those chain trippers.

I was thinking Hexer 11/3 blackguard/6 ravager.

I personally like that all three classes you the ability to decrease your opponents saves and since poison use is an ability of BG then use the strongest poison possible.

Bbn3/Ftr2/Blackguard5/Warrior of Darkness10

Alternately, any build with Blackguard7 followed up with Nar Demonbinder (but just about any build with Nard is broken, just like any build with Ur-Priest).

Snow, Where is the Marshal level???
:D

I would reccomend a build that had a level of Marshal, 3-4 levels of Hexblade, and 2-4 levels of Arcane duelist. I like the Dragon disciple idea. Maybe Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 8/AD 2/Blk 5, or Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 6/AD 4/Blk 5 if you allow Power attack + Dexterous attack.

1:Mar 1
2:Mar 1/Hex 1
5:Mar 1/Hex 4
6:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 1
8:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 3
9:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 3/AD 1
10:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 3/AD 2
11:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 3/AD 2/Blk 1
15:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 3/AD 2/Blk 5
16:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 4/AD 2/Blk 5
20:Mar 1/Hex 4/DD 8/AD 2/Blk 5

Add you bonus DD spell slots to Blackguard at DD 4+

My favorite blackguard build is probably my Warlord of Undeath, a Ftr 5/Blackguard 5/Horned Harbinger 10. The blackguard levels are almost incidental, but in any leadership oriented build, charisma is going to be high anyway, so the bonus to saves is nice. In this case in particular, the levels of blackguard will also increase your turning and caster level for controlling undead. Fighter 5 can be really be replaced with any 5 level prefix you'd like since the Education feat will work with any of them (and it's all you really need for Horned Harbinger.)
