| Rogue DM10-12-05, 01:41 AM | I have a player who is creating a blackguard for an evil party starting at level 12. He is planning to go paladin 5/ Blackguard 6 and needs another class too move into. What class would be a good finisher for this character? Any suggestions for feats? Books available include the complete series, the core rulebooks, and information available on the net. Thank you. |
| PhaedrusXY10-12-05, 01:44 AM | Heh, I just posted a blackguard build. Since he's starting at level 12, why not say he started as a Palladin11, then "fell" and exchanged 10 of his Palladin levels in for Blackguard? Check the Blackguard Demonbinder link in my sig for a full build. |
| ninjarabbit10-12-05, 07:29 AM | Hexblade would be nice, arcane resistance stacks with dark blessing, mettle is nice, and a familar can compliment your fiendish servant. |
| Xeraph10-12-05, 07:32 AM | Nar Demonbinder improves your spellcasting beyond 4th level spells. (Unaproachable East) I also like Pyrokineticist. Running around in a burning haze in a fullplate, blasting and chopping the infidels to pieces, what not to like about that scenario? (Expanded Psionics Handbook) |

| El_Machinae10-12-05, 10:57 AM | If you have C. Adventurer, I'd suggest Pal 5/Rogue 1/Shadowbane Inquisitor 6 Next level, convert to Blackguard (give up your Paladin abilities for one level) That will make the character become Blackguard 6 (with benefits of being a converted Paladin 6!) Rogue 1/ Shadowbane Inquisitor 6 You'll save on feats and can go anywhere from there. |
| Phaxi10-12-05, 11:09 AM | Disciple of Dispater perhaps? |
| Ashlan10-12-05, 11:13 AM | If you have C. You can only convert your levels of Paladin to Blackguard if you were 11th Paladin. This will not work. Also, when you convert the levels, you lose the special abilities for being a fallen Paladin with levels in Blackguard. Ash |
| El_Machinae10-12-05, 11:37 AM | Aha! However, Shadowbane Inquisitor allows you to add levels of IT to your paladin levels to determine your "loot" for going to Blackguard. So Paladin 5/SbI 6 counts as being Pal 11 when you go to Blackguard. Which means you can trade out 5 of your Paladin levels, as well as keep 6 levels of paladin benefits. |
| Nerull/10-13-05, 11:23 AM | Some questions to PhaedrusXY on his demonbinder build. Does EK mean eldritch knight? I ask this because I think the requirement for eldritch knight include some ranks in knowledge arcane and the build doesn’t have those. It is also included a feat called education, from which book is that? Moreover if fiend folio is not available can he propose another interesting cohort? Thanks in advance |
| El_Machinae10-13-05, 11:53 AM | To the original poster. I can't see a way of having a 11th level character start as Pal 5/ Blk 6. You need to be an 11th level Paladin/Blk 1 before you can switch out your Paladin levels for Blackguard levels. Some additional ideas include (at thirteenth level): Divine Crusader (for better spell casting), Pious Templar (for way better smiting, if the PT can also "smite evil" (which it should)), and more blackguard. Nerull - yes EK means Eldritch Knight. |
