I played one of these a couple of years ago (back in 3.0) for a session or two, then the game dried up. I don't remember my exact build, but I know it was Human Blackguard 10/Assassin 10 (ex-paladin BG) that used 2-w fighting.

I know it's not terribly optimized, but do you guys have any input?

Sounds subpar and illegal. You need to be Paladin11 to trade your levels for Blackguard, meaning that you'd be Pal1/Blackguard10/Asn9.

There's also the multi-ability dependency (Dex for TWF, Str for Blackguard requirements, Int for Assassin spells/Death Attack, Cha for Dark Blessing, Wisdom for BG spells, Constitution always — yep, that's all of them.)

Finally, Blackguard isn't best with TWF because Power Attack works best with a Two-handed weapon.

I worked on a theoretical Blackguard/Assassin build and came to the conclusion that the character was much better off without TWF.

The character was equipped with a scimitar (one-handed, can be held two-handed for power attacking), and on the off-hand he had a buckler and a gauntlet. The gauntlet was incase you wanted to take the to-hit penalties when an opportunity for a full-attack+sneak attacks opportunity arose (for that extra sneak attack d6s).

Seriously, your character would need a fighter background otherwise, there's so few feats available in that sort of build. :D

Dipping just far enough into Blackguard to get Aura of Despair, and then focusing on your Assassin abilities may be the best way to go here.
