"Tally-ho, chaps. I was wondering if you gents could tell me if there was a way--or, better yet, more than one way--to improve the blackguard's fiendish servant. For instance, good gets, in Neverwinter Nights, blackguards could acquire a demon or devil to accompany them on their travels. If you would be so kind as to explain to me any means by which one could do such a thing, that would be absolutely lovely; if there is not any way to do so, I suppose that I shall speak with my DM on the issue from the start of character creation.

12-17-06, 01:50 AM I believe there is a feat called "Improved Fiendish Familiar" in Champions of Ruin which allows various demons and such to be used instead of the rather lukewarm "Animal with Fiendish Sub Type" critter.

There was also a modification somewhere that allowed the Blackguard to pick up an Undead henchman instead of a familiar...Libris Mortis sounds like a match, but I'm AFB.

Not very strong, those new familiars are mostly animals from the MM around the cr2 range, but the feat does add the fiendish template to any familiar you summon.:)
