I don't have Races of Stone, so the info I'm working off of may be incorrect.

A friend has confided in me that the Blade Bravo gets an ability whereby taking a 5' step allows him to make an attack vs. an opponent as if that target was flat-footed.

The question is, if the ability was correctly described to me, could it be combined with Rogue levels (for sneak attack) and Dervish levels (for the dance)?

Something like

Whisper Gnome (yes, I know many poeple cry cheese...it's for the favored class and Blade Bravo racial requirement, nothing more)

Rogue 1: Dodge
Fghtr 1: Mobillity
Fighter 2: Combat Expertise, Weapon Focus (Kukri?) The same friend mentioned that the blade bravo uses a wierd weapon...I think he said Kukri
Rogue 2: Evasion
Rogue 3: Sneak Attack 2d6
Swash 1: Weapon Finesse, something to meet the Blade Bravo requirements
Dervish 1: various

...

So at 7th level you've got the dance. Can enough of the Blade Bravo fit in to get the hypothetical ability that I've been told about?

Oh no...I can see how someone who reads the description of the Blade Bravo ability without much thought can have a misconception as to what it actually does.

In short, the ability gives you an dodge bonus to AC, the confusing text afterwards informs the reader that people with dodge bonuses lose their dodge bonuses when they are flat footed or denied their dex bonus.

Nothing about them moving 5' and making anyone they attack be considered flat footed. That's just insane. If this ability were true, you would see the boards spammed with Blade Bravo Builds up and down.

Tell your friend you confided in you to reread the ability. In fact he should reread the ability out loud to everyone in the game so there is no rules question about it as it clearly states what it does. Move 5', get a dodge bonus. (period)

And as for the weird weapon? It's not kurki, go tell you friend to just lend you the book instead of giving you everything by word of mouth. You'll feel better in the morning.

I'd been trying for a week, without any success. It was not until late Friday that I was able to get to my FLGS and actually look. I came to the conclusion that said friend was simply a rabid gnome lover and was reading too much into the class.

I should have posted a retraction then, but by that time the thread was several days old and I figured everyone was done laughing at my gullibility. :)
