| Lomiir02-15-04, 01:50 AM | Been working on this build for a few hours and I think it's got a pretty solid concept. No levels of this build feel wasted and they all meld together perfectly as far as roleplaying is concerned. The only huge weakness I see in this build is if my spells get dispelled. This is using the RoF Bladesinger version and by request of DM it is using only core and FR. We are playing 3.0. Moon Elf race. 1 Fighter- Weapon Focus(Rapier), Weapon Finesse 2 Wizard- School Specialization: Transmutation(Ench, Div, Necro Prohibited) 3 Fighter- Combat Casting, Dodge 4 Fighter- [+1 Str] 5 Fighter- Weapon Spec(Rapier) 6 Fighter- Still Spell 7 Fighter- Expertise 8 Bladesinger- Bladesong [+1 Dex] 9 Bladesinger- Improved Critical, Extend Spell 10 Bladesinger- Lesser Spellsong 11 Bladesinger- 12 Bladesinger- Mobility, Endurance [+1 Dex] 13 Bladesinger- Song of Celerity 14 Bladesinger- Greater Spellsong 15 Bladesinger- Persistant Spell, ******** 16 Bladesinger- [+1 Dex] 17 Bladesinger- Song of Fury 18 Spelldancer- Empower Spell, Spell Dance 19 Spelldancer- Evasion 20 Spelldancer- [+1 Dex] Base Ability Scores w/ elf mods: STR: 13 DEX: 18 CON: 14 INT: 14 WIS: 12 CHA: 10 Your average finesse fighter early on w/ that one early level of wizard mainly just for mage armor & to qualify for bladesinger. Bladesinger comes along and grants some nifty abilities. Spelldancer comes along and grants 2 great abilities: More wizard caster progression, and the ability to use all the great metamagic feats without having to use a higher spell slot. Persistant haste, displacement, mage armor, shield, magic weapon, bull's strength, cat's grace, greater magic weapon, and keen edge. Empowered bulls strength and cat's grace is definitely nice. In regard to my choices of prohibited schools I realize that giving up divination lost me true strike, but it is only 1 useful spell to this character and I don't want to be that cheap :P @level 20 I'll have: +17 Bab Attacks using song of fury: +22/+22/+17/+12/+7 Damage with base rapier: 1d6+4 15-20/x3 Touch AC of 16. +11 Fort/+18 Ref/+15 Will Everything above is without gear and any spells cast. Wizard Spells: 4 Caster Levels 1st level spells/day: 5 2nd level spells/day: 4 Bladesinger Spells: 10 Caster Levels 1st level spells/day: 6 2nd level spells/day: 6 3rd level spells/day: 4 4th level spells/day: 4 Wake up 4 hours earlier than every non elf and dance all my persistant buffs up while they sleep :) Anyway, what do you think of this build in general? Also, I have an open feat slot @ lvl 15. What should I use there? Improved Initiative? Spring Attack? Great Fortitude? Strong Soul? Something else? Any input is greatly appreciated! |
| JosephKell02-15-04, 04:01 AM | Wouldn't Fighter 4/Wizard 2/Bladesinger 10/Spelldancer 4 make more sense? -Jonathan http://www.geocities.com/jonathanef/gejoecool.txt |
| Lomiir02-15-04, 12:11 PM | That wouldnt work as I wouldnt have the required feats. I could do it if I didn't get weapon spec, but I really want it. |
| JosephKell02-15-04, 12:58 PM | Required Feats for what? Fighter 4/Wizard 2 can get into Bladesinger, and Bladesinger had bonus feats of its own. |
| Lomiir02-15-04, 01:40 PM | Bladesinger requires: Weapon Focus Combat Casting Dodge Still Spell Expertise BaB +5 If I didnt get weapon finesse and weapon spec, sure I could do it with Ftr4 Wiz2. But I have to have finesse, and spec is just too good to pass up. Yea the Bladesinger gets bonus feats but it doesn't include weapon spec. |

You could always take weapon spec as your standard 9th level feat. Also, why do you want persistant spell. You can't cast 5th level spells |

You can't cast 5th level spells Spelldancer allows you to use metamagic feats without boosting the level of the spell. For each spell you have to dance for X round where X = the number of levels the spell would be raised by metamagic feats. You can dance for rounds equal to your CON mod + your spelldancer level. So at level 19 I can (2 levels of spelldancer and +2 con mod) freely cast persistant spells by dancing 4 round for each spell(Which I would do in the morning before everyone else wakes up as elves only have the 4 hour trance) |
| Lomiir02-15-04, 02:53 PM | Nevermind, I read this wrong. You can dance on CON + Spelldancer levels PER DAY. Not per spell LOL. No wonder this seemed too powerful :P Eh it still might be worth taking the class just for one spell. What do you think? Is it worth 3 feats and 3 levels in spelldancer to be able to cast a persistant Displacement, Stoneskin, or Haste? |
