| Ariath Ska'Vhor02-07-07, 08:21 PM | I'd like to make a 20th level blaster specialist as a BBEG for the characters in my campaign. Right now I'm thinking of using either warmage, sorcerer or wizard and I want, for sure, to use this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1945594#post1945594) class of my own creation. As for race, use any between CR +0 and +2, add a template if you wish. Someone else I know suggested wizard/master specialist/AAD and I want to know if that's a good idea. The ability scores I pregenerated were as follows; 18 16 16 14 12 9 So far that's all I have, help? Edit: I forgot to mention what books I've access to, Here; Core Books (including XPH) Complete Mage Complete Arcane Complete Divine Complete Adventurer Complete Warrior Libris Mortis Fiendish Codex I Fiendish Codex II Tome of Magic Tome of Battle Eberron Campaign Setting Savage Species Races of Destiny Races of Eberron Races of the Wild Dragon Magic Book of Vile Darkness Sandstorm Players Handbook 2 Dungeon Master's Guide 2 Monster Manual 2 |

Two of the three feats eventually become completely useless, so you're going to want to have as many bonus feat slots as possible for some strong feat choices. You could almost stand to lose one more caster level for 3 levels in Human Paragon. Not only would the boost to intelligence give you another use of your Empowered Evocation ability, but you'd get another bonus feat. The strength-mod-to-spell-damage ability screams Shapechange (ab)use. Add on Draconic Polymorph for even more sickness. If you go this route you'll want to take Practiced Spellcaster to maximize caster level. Even if you decide on a different, full-caster level progression you may consider it. +2 caster level from a feat is a pretty good deal. A few sample builds: Wiz 5/AAD 10/Fatespinner 4/Mindbender 1 Wiz 5/AAD 10/Human Paragon 3/Fatespinner 2 Wiz 5/Incantatrix 10/AAD 5 Wiz 5/AAD 10/Warmage 5 Wiz 5/AAD 10/Archmage 5 I'd drop the 9 into Strength as you'll spend all of your time Shapechanged, but make him venerable for +3 to all mental stats. The 12 dex will become a 9, but that doesn't matter anyway. 16 Con drops to 10. Buy that +5 Manual of Bodily Health and an amulet of health +6 to mitigate this. 18 Int +3 Venerable +5 levels +5 tome +6 Headband = 37 14 Wis +3 venerable = 17 12 Cha +3 venerable = 15 Either way...just my 2 cp |

| Ariath Ska'Vhor02-07-07, 09:19 PM | If we're going to be an Evoker, we might as well use Master Evoker (Complete Mage) Yes, I mentioned in the first post someone suggested that. |
| Ariath Ska'Vhor02-08-07, 02:05 AM | Anyone else have suggestions, possibly for feats, items (artifacts included, but be reasonable), anything? |
| PhaedrusXY02-08-07, 12:12 PM | The Cube of Force is very good for this kind of character. |

You're in a bit of a feat crunch, but lets run the numbers. Race: Silver Brow Human (Dragon Magic) Build:: Metamagic Varient Sorcerer 6/Abyssal Arcane Destroyer 10/Elemental Savant 4 Feats: 1. Empower, (Maximize) 3. Spell Focus (Evocation) 6. Energy Substitution (Fire) 9. Searing Spell 12. Practical Metamagic (Maximize) 15. Practiced Spell Caster 18. Arcane Thesis (Delayed Blast Fireball) Using the spell Arcane Spell Surge from Dragon Magic, you can turn this BBEG into a casting fiend, busting off 2 uber evocations per round with no slot adjustments. Also access to Greater Arcane Fusion is key (CMag). Say you want a TPK? Round 1: STD: Time stop -> Gain at least 2 rounds. 1. Swift action: Arcane Spell Surge 1. STD Action: Maximized, Empowered Delayed Blast Fireball (uses a 9th level slot) [+3 maximize -1 thesis -1 practical metamagic +2 empower -1 thesis +1 searing -1 thesis = net +2 slot adjustment] 2. Swift Action: Maximized, Empowered Delayed Blast Fireball (use one of the uses of quick metamagic casting per day from metamagic varient sorcerer to keep original casting time to STD action, arcane spell surge makes it swift) 2. STD Action: Maximized, Empowered Delayed Blast Fireball (uses a 9th level slot). Damage output at end of round: 4x[120 + 10d6]= 620 fire damage on average, not subject to fire resistance and deals half damage to fire immune creatures. Bottom line: Metamagic is the way to go. Arcane Spell Surge with a dragonblood sorcerer is teh ubar. Arcane Thesis is also key. Practical Metamagic is from Races of Dragon... if you don't want to use that, then have the sorcerer expend one of his free empowers in the cycle above for the same effect. Fire damage = the best damage type, when you put searing spell in the mix. |

| Bill Bisco: Average Adventurer02-10-07, 10:27 AM | If you're starting at 20th, I would consider getting your 2nd level of human Paragon at 19th. That way you can get Arcane Thesis or another metamagic feat or Practical metamagic Personally, I might just try to get delay spell and then a Chained Searing Orb of Fire. But really delay spell isn't necessary. A Chained Searing Orb of Fire does the trick at that level. Edit: is abyssal Arcane Destroyer just a homebrew Prc? |
