Just got a bit curious wether this is actually working or not. Would be funny if it did, since it only affects evil and thus wont swing back at you =)

kbsnowowl actually built an archer around this. Hunter's Mercy auto-threatens though, so you don't really need Bless Weapon as much as maybe True Strike. Bless works perfectly fine as HM does not increase the threat range, at all.

Hunter's Mercy on a +1 Blessed(+1) Bursts (+8) Serren Elvencraft Composite (+4) Longbow shot by a deepwood sniper (x5 crit) and armed with bane arrows is pretty cool.

Hunter's Mercy has been reprinted in the SC and now only gives an automatic critical if your initial attack hits. This means that you're no-longer just rolling to confirm and thus bless weapon has no effect.

Even if you are using the old version, do note that bless weapon needs to be put on each arrow individually. The Blessed special ability doesn't say that it bestows the ability onto ammunition, and the spell explicitly can't usually be used in such a manner, so it's arguable that a blessed bow would have no effect. Blessed arrows would work, however.

But so it would work in 3.0 with the MoF version of Hunter's Mercy? There's a rule in PHB stating that two spells of equal effect does'nt stack.

PHB s.172: "Two bonuses of the same type donīt stack even if they come from different spells."

So that rules does'nt apply to this case?

The rule in question is part of Bless Weapon, stating that Bless Weapon's auto-confirm won't work if the weapon has any other sort of critical hit modification already active on it.

"In addition, all critical hit rolls against evil foes are automatically successful, so every threat is a critical hit. This last effect does not apply to any weapon that already has a magical effect related to critical hits, such as a keen weapon or a vorpal sword."

I know this thread is kind of old but I just wanted to comment. Bless weapon is remarkably specific. Any weapon that already has a magical effect related to critical hits. This mean Bless Weapon works with Improved Critical and Hunter's Mercy, as neither affects the weapon itself.
