what feats would make a blind character close to useful. obviously blind fight, and hear the unseen from CA. i'm thinking about making a blind scout, just for fun, so lvl 10 i'd get blindsense. any other feats that'll help a blind pc out?

bah, just read blind-fight to make sure it was what i thought it was, it's not, melee only. is there anything that'll reduce the miss chance for ranged?

i'm up for any Prc or feats. i'm looking more to make this character feasible, not optimizied, but any suggestions are welcomed.

sorry if this got posted twice, it said page could not be displayed after i hit post

from Races of Stone
Earth Sense will help some it lets you determin the number of creatures touching the ground within 20 feat of you

other than that the two feat you mentioned are the only way you have of finding ceatures around you

In Races of Stone, I believe Earth Dreamer gets tremorsense. As does Horizon Walker.

If Psionics are allowed, there's a first level power called Synthesate (I think that's spelled wrong), which allows you to either 'see' sound or 'hear' light, negating the penalties from being blind or deaf. So you could be blind, but have a Daredevil kind of radar/echolocation. So maybe a Wilder/Scout with an eye for the Ecolocator PrC (the one that lets you levitate constantly).

Alternatly, if you're at a slightly higher level, there's the Blindfold of True Night from (I think) 3.0 Arms & Equipment. It costs something like 9k gold, completely covers your eyes, but gives you Blindsight (notice, Sight, not Sense. Much better). If you're already blind, having your eyes covered doesn't matter much.

As a note, a blind character can not read anything or make spot checks, so if you're scouting in a dungeon, you won't be able to read inscriptions or notes or graffiti or simmilar, and you won't be able to notice little things that won't trigger the Blindsense/sight. But it's a cool concept nonetheless. I had a Tai Chi master who wielded a Bastard Sword, wore the Blindfold of True Night, and a Ring of the Darkhidden. He would walk alone into the darkest dungeon. All the monsters, who relied on their Darkvision, didn't stand a chance.

hm, is there any other way to get blindsight? through a prc?

isn't there a race in the mythic races (by sword & sorcorery i think) book that has no eyes?

Blindsense was called Blindsight in 3.0. A&EG is 3.0. So logically it should only give blindsense, or the 3.0 version of blindsight, which works exactly the same.

If you have a few caster levels and ranks in listen, the spell Listening Lorecall from Complete Adventurer could be beneficial to pick up.

thanks semper, that spell looks like it'll be great, just take practiced spellcaster to increase the duration if i go scout. but if i take lvls in ranger for the spell.., i won't need the lvls in scout to get the blind sense either. but then again, if i went sorceror, i could cast it more times per day.. and only have 4 lvls in it... hm looks like i have a few options to think about for that.

you could get a custom idea that cast srying limited to the field of view that your eyes would normally have. I have no idea how much that would cost. Or even if it's possible.

Actually blindsight is called blindsight in 3.5, some creatures have a lesser ability called blindsense instead of blindsight now. Mostly because blindsight is so powerful. Rationally 3.0 items should have the blindsense power.
