| Exavian02-21-07, 09:27 PM | I could really use some help figuring out exactly where to place everything for a Bloodstorm Blade. From what I can tell my stat importance would be Str>Con>Int>Dex>Cha>Wis? And then there's the whole problem of not being able to wear light armor, should I grab a level of Fighter or something to get it, otherwise it seems like my AC will be horrid, and it looks like I would be the closest thing to a tank in this campaign. Almost every 3.5 book (no psionics) is available. |
| LittleCarp0402-21-07, 09:30 PM | Is there a thread with a link to where most PrCs can be found? Im looking for info on the Bloodstorm blade as far as where its found and such |
| SoulReaverX02-21-07, 09:34 PM | what base class were you planning on taking? if it was warblade, its perfectly viable to take just 1 level of fighter to get the proficiency's, and then back to whatever else you were doing (probly warblade since you have int over dex) also, unless your gonna be using fullplate, dex > int because your probly only taking a few warblade levels before going Bstorm blade, which only really grants you int bonus to reflex saves and to confirm crits. if your going lots of warblade levels, int should probly go above dex in that regard. dunno if it just me, but i prefer to go 2-handed and massive str with power attack on Bstorm, because i no longer have to be at melee range to do it. last thing, what race do you plan on making it? if human, going 1 level into fighter will be a breeze because of no multiclass penalty to XP. just my :twocents: |
| Exavian02-21-07, 10:54 PM | I was going to go human and Warblade, so I guess I'll go Warblade 4/Fighter 1 and then to Bloodstorm Blade, and I wanted the heavy armor so I could use full plate and eliminate the need for dex. |

| LittleCarp0402-21-07, 11:53 PM | and yet bloodstorm blade is not on that list... |
| NoSix02-22-07, 12:08 AM | Yes, it is. Click Prestige Class Index Press Ctrl+F to open your serch function Type "Bloodstorm" in the field Whallah! Dar she blows! New classes that are added to the list from books that date after the orginal creation of the list, arent in the proper alphabetical order. |
| NoSix02-22-07, 12:11 AM | @OP WB/Ftr should be good, But remeber that BsB dosent gain additional maneuvers. So at higher levels, the 4 Warblade levels wont be as useful. |
| LittleCarp0402-22-07, 12:33 AM | ahh it was at the bottom, sorry bout that, i figured since they were in alphabetical order... it would have stayed up top. lol i have that book and havent even read it yet |
| Exavian02-22-07, 09:21 AM | @OP WB/Ftr should be good, But remeber that BsB dosent gain additional maneuvers. So at higher levels, the 4 Warblade levels wont be as useful. True, but the majority of the class features of the Bloodstorm Blade requires the use of an Iron Heart maneuver. |
| Harliquinn02-22-07, 10:06 AM | I went Warblade1 / Fighter4 for my throwing master, since I needed the feats more than the maneuvers (Which mostly didn't work with ranged attacks). I think sprinkled another 2-3 levels of Warblade for higher level useful boosts and counters. Harliquinn |

Bloodstorm Blade eventually lets you consider your ranged attacks as melee attacks - which means maneuvers. |
| Harliquinn02-22-07, 10:38 AM | What? Bloodstorm Blade eventually lets you consider your ranged attacks as melee attacks - which means maneuvers. Hmm, you know...I never thought about that. It specifically mentions feats and other combat related things but never came out and said maneuvers. I suppose that would work, thanks. However, many maneuvers take a swift action and the Bloodstorm Blade's Thunderous Throw takes a swift action. I wonder how compatible they really are for the useful attacks. Harliquinn |
| PhoenixInferno02-22-07, 10:44 AM | Well, of course, I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. On the other hand, since Bloodstorm Blade doesn't even advance maneuvers, you must not have really cared for them anyway. |

There is nothing at all stopping you from using, say, Mountain Hammer if you have it with Thunderous Throw. There is, however, a seeming contradiction. The ability you get the same level of Bloodstorm Blade, Martial Throw, allows you to apply only single-target Iron Mind Strikes to your ranged attacks. Like so many other sticky issues, it all comes down to DM interpratation. What I've done for my Bloodstorm Blade is to allow him to use Strikes while using Thunderous Throw, as it does recquire him to not change stance or use a Counter that round. Also, many of the late Bloodstorm Blade abilites recquire you to be in an Iron Mind stance, and to use a Swift Action to give up the stance benefit for a different benefit. All seemed to balance out in my mind. |
| Harliquinn02-22-07, 11:23 AM | I think the Bloodstorm Blade works well even without maneuvers because many of the special abilities are actually better than a maneuver in many cases, depending upon how well you've tricked out your attacks. Some of the Iron Heart boosts and counters are nice to have though, but many require the use of an immediate action. The signature Martial Throw (Sorry I labeled it wrong earlier) requires the use of a Swift Action every round to take advantage of it, which limits your options for using other abilities. |
