| samoosa69112-22-03, 01:06 PM | in an effort to try something new, I am playing a somewhat of a 'monkey' race. (vanara from oriental adventures) the playing style for my wizard is he specializes in evocation I dropped necromancy and enchantment. My question to you guys is, this is a high powered campaign, hence all hp's are maxed out including monser's hp's. the stats: str 9 dex 14 con 15 int 20 wis 13 cha 10 i don't have a familiar yet, because at level 6 i will be taking improved familiar for a psedo dragon (just for the sake of playing something different) we are currently level 3, and if u need any other information feel free to ask the favored class for the vanara has been changed to wizard since we have no shammans. Now I was looking at the elemental savant however it only is a master of 1 element, where i want a prestige class that is a master of ALL elements. All my spells are geared towards elemental attacks. At level 5 (wizard bonus feat) i'm taking energy substitution (sonic) just in case we run into demonds/devils with all resistances. (except sonic) my question to you is: would you take 1 level of fighter for 10 hp's and a bonus feat to enter into ek?, or would you choose some other prestige class with full progression that gives other abilities as well. Now at level 4 i will be putting my ability increase into con (obviously) for more hp's. I'm thinking the one level loss would be worth it (actually two) but your advice is greatly appreciated. |

Basically, any area of effect spell also bull rushes targets out to the edge of the area. Pretty cool for a blaster mage. I wouldn't bother with EK or fighter. Most of your attacks will likely be area of effect, so extra bab won't help you. Losing the caster level will hurt though. I suggest memming a couple of false life castings, to boost your hp's (they have a 1 hour/level duration). -Jindl |

The monster hps are maxed, but your spell damage is not. Therefore all kinds of save or die and summoning spells will be greatly better than direct damage spells in your environment. I was very surprised to see that you dropped both of the schools which offer that kind of spells (necromancy and enchantment), atleast you still have transmutation left. Generally I'd think that with those house rules you should avoid direct damage wizard's role and go definitely with a summoning & enabling build. But it is your call of course. If you will stick with the direct damage aspect then the elemental savant definitely is a good PrC to pick. Take either earth or air as your element as both of those offer you very nice movement capabilities at the last level. Sisyfos |
