While reading through Complete Scoundrel, one feat in particular really stuck out at me: Good Karma. This feat lets you spend 1 luck roll to divert one attack to yourself away from an ally.

Combined with the Stand Still feat, and a few martial maneuvers that let you either throw a target or take away their move actions, this could be a pretty well rounded bodyguard/battlemat controller with an emphasis on protecting the pointy hats in the group.

This build has 5 main points:
1)Lots of Luck Points: 7 at lvl 11, that will let you absorb an attack, win init, deal more damage, or pass a will save so you don't turn on your own pointy hat. The throw maneuvers grant +4 unnamed, and the Improved Trip also grants a +4 unnamed. I don't see any reason they don't stack, but I could be wrong. Also, Enlarge Person is love in this build.
2)Location control: By taking a glaive and armor spikes, you threaten a 2 square area around you. When someone tries to move past and provokes an AOO, it doesn't matter how much damage you do to them with your armor spikes, because you're most likely going to be throwing them, or taking away their move action
3)Good mobility: This build needs to be either next to a pointy hat, or in bottle necks to work best. Balance, tumble, and skill tricks make that happen, along with the possibility of some martial stances or maneuvers.
4)UMD! This build manages to work UMD up to a very usable level, without giving up much in combat
5)Other good skills, especially after Able Learner: By this time, there's not a lot that's not on the skill list.

This build, however, does lack a few things:
1)9th lvl maneuvers: Just one more lvl of Swordsage would grant them, but you'd probably have to give up 1 feat and drop Battle Trickster. This is doable, but there's not much on lvl 9 list that looked like it was a deal breaker to go without.
2)A bucket load of HP: Stone Dragon gives a lot of DR and protection, but it is limited. Careful with that Good Karma.

Looking at the pros and cons of this build, along with the roll in combat, I can't help but name him:
Chewbacca
(A hairy)Human, Swordsage 12/Fighter 4/Combat Trickster 2/Fortunes Friend 2
Str: 16, Dex: 14, Con: 16, Int: 14, Wis: 10, Cha: 6
