| prototype0004-03-06, 10:10 AM | Hello all, I'm still in the process of fleshing out my bone knight, and the simplest way I've come up with to boost his buffing (and melee I suppose, indirectly) is to take quicken spell/divine metamagic quicken spell and fill the rest of the feat slots with extra turning, with possibly spontaneous healer thrown into the mix. I don't plan to be an Ur-Knight or a Twice Betrayer Knight, so I guess I can afford to play to simplicity, but I was wondering if there was a better combination of feats to make this character a more efficient buffer/fighter type? prototype00 Hmm, many of you are probably wondering why I chose quicken instead of persistant, well, quicken helps my blasting spells as well, and you are less likely to fall prey to a random dispel magic cast at the start of the fight. Main reasons for that I suppose. |
| Prominence04-03-06, 11:14 AM | Do you plan to melee or nuke? Will need more character information. Are you cleric into bone knight? paladin? some sort of multiclass? I suggest Power Attack and the feat (Divine Spell Power I believe) that gives you 04 to +4 (ie, 0 to +4) caster level for a turn attempt since quicken is going to take less than persist. |
| prototype0004-03-06, 08:00 PM | Hmm, Was intending to Nuke then melee. Round 1 (quicken divine favor, flame strike) Round 2 (divine metamagic quicken righteous might, charge) round 3 (divine metamagic quicken divine power, full attack). Just to provide myself with enough time to lay on the buffs. I was actually going to go straight cleric of the sovreign host into bone knight, that way I get the most flexibility with domains. On the subject of divine spell power, is it really worth it to boost caster levels? I've never actually considered it for my builds. Power attack seems to be less useful than one more opportunity to quicken a spell. (Especially since its not a given that Eberron has Nightsticks) prototype00 P.s. If you worship the sovreign host, since its a NG entity, you turn undead and spontaneously heal. When you become a bone knight, you rebuke undead instead (by class description) but it makes no provision for your spontaneous spells. If you were a spontaneous healer before does that change? |
| Prominence04-03-06, 08:24 PM | As it requires no alignment, and can even advance paladin spellcasting, you should keep your healing spontenaeity. I suggest power attack and Divine Spell Power. When you full attack, after buffs you should have such a high attack you can PA for full without caring. Divine Spell Power is, basically, +4 Caster Level. This is +1 AC (magic vestment) or +1 attack/damage for Greater Magic weapon, or +4d6 flamestrike. Isn't that worth it? |
| prototype0004-04-06, 04:05 AM | You do have a point about divine spell power. I'll give it some thought. Still undecided about the possibilities of power attack, but more damage is better. Too bad they don't have the undeath domain in Eberron. Are there any other combinations of feats that might help? prototype00 |
