| Runeblood701-25-06, 11:41 AM | Am I correct on this? Sample Build: Human Cleric 4/ Wild Shape Ranger 2/ Master of Many Forms 7/ Bone Knight 7 OR Human Cleric 2/ Druid 5/ Master of Many Forms 7/ Bone Knight 6 (if it still would give me the nonlethal immunity) Bone Armor is armor made of natural material, assuming that you can get the Wild enhancement on it, will change with your form. The armor makes you have most of the undead qualities (including the immunity to nonlethal damage at a certain level), while still retaining your Con score. Change into a Troll of the War variety. Wouldn't this all put together make you immune to damage? I had considered a Druid build with Bone Knight anyway...but I didn't know it would lead to this. Sorry, don't have my books at the moment. BTW, is it just me, or is the Cave Troll a BEAST in close combat? |

You need toughness (it's a prereq for the next feat) and a feat called Trollblooded from Dragon magazine 319. It gives you regeneration 1. It's only drawback is you become fatigued in the sun. That's where Bone knight comes in, if you take all levels and you can go either straight cleric or paladin(though for paladin you would have to do 10 levels first to gain full spellcasting benefit since you can't go back once you take bone knight, so I would probably go cleric, for more powerful spellcasting, unless you don't care about the paladin levels) and by the time you're done, the only real way to kill you is with fire, acid, or something like disintegrate. I built one this way, and fought a character who could deal 2400 points (average) in a single hit, but couldn't do any energy damage, so couldn't kill the bone knight. |
| Dregdulain01-25-06, 01:28 PM | what? no half-black dragon troll fire savant/palemaster? does the same thing...except with immunity to fire and acid...and death effects... |
| lostone01-25-06, 01:34 PM | I'm playing a bone knight with the troll blooded feat, also has the fire subtype from Mantle of the Fiery Spirit (cast by an ally) and immunity to acid through an armor enhancement. However my DM would not let the nonlethal damage immunity stack with the regeneration, I had to pick one and get rid of the other, so I kept regeneration (since all they can really do is knock me unconscious, but first they have to beat me, which is a challenge all its own). Some other magic items allow me to breathe at all times, etc. Wartroll + Voidmind template is nice, covering a lot of immunities, most other vulnerabilities can be stopped with choice magic items, but then you are vulnerable to disjunctions ruining your year. :P |
| Gehenna01-25-06, 02:16 PM | I've read that regeneration becomes Fast Healing if you become immune to nonlethal damage. I could be wrong about this. Can someone verify? |
| Esponer01-25-06, 02:29 PM | I've read that regeneration becomes Fast Healing if you become immune to nonlethal damage. I could be wrong about this. Can someone verify? Yep, I keep hearing this too... I haven't seen anyone give an actual source yet though. |
| Runeblood701-25-06, 02:38 PM | I've read that regeneration becomes Fast Healing if you become immune to nonlethal damage. I could be wrong about this. Can someone verify? You know, I heard that too, but I thought it was only for creatures that lost their con score by becoming undead. |
| lostone01-25-06, 02:39 PM | I've read that regeneration becomes Fast Healing if you become immune to nonlethal damage. I could be wrong about this. Can someone verify?I've heard it many times and have even repeated it, however I have not seen any official word on it. I believe the first time I saw it come up it was said it was a Sage ruling, but I may be remembering that wrong. Personally I think it would be better to lose nonlethal damage immunity than have your regeneration turn into fast healing. My DM did it so that it is possible for my character to be defeated, even if it is only unconsciousness as opposed to death. Otherwise there was very little that could slow my character short of something like forcecage, or an antimagic field with a lot of flasks of acid. I do think that allowing nonlethal damage immunity and regeneration to stack is very unbalancing, especially if that character has no vulnerability to the regeneration (as in the case of my character). |
| lostone01-25-06, 02:42 PM | You know, I heard that too, but I thought it was only for creatures that lost their con score by becoming undead. No, if you lose your Con score you lose regeneration. Period. It does not change to fast healing according to the RAW. |
| Vikjunk01-25-06, 07:06 PM | The Bone Knight is vulnerable to Rampager from Monster Manual 2. Since the Bone Knights class ability Exoskeleton of Undeath will kill your character if his armor is ever removed. And with the Rampager's Armor Damage ability will rip his armor off if it lands a bite attack. |
| BarbeChenue01-25-06, 07:28 PM | You can't remove the armor if the character is not dead. It's not exactly what you said. :) |
| Vikjunk01-25-06, 08:26 PM | You can't remove the armor if the character is not dead. It's not exactly what you said. :) Reread the ability of the Bone Knight, it says that you can't remove the armor without killing the character. Not that the armor can only be removed when your character is dead, remember there are other ways of dieing other then getting killed by someone else. So if they meant that the armor can only be removed when your dead they would have used another word then killing. |
| Vikjunk01-25-06, 10:44 PM | And as for being immune to the energy type that you take normal damage with regeneration your DM could always throw a coven of Elemental Savant or other Energy Specialists with feats similar to Piercing Cold and Searing Spell for their appropriate energy type so that they can get past your immunity to deal half the damage it would normally would. |
