Bonus Feat Build Challenge [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-08-06, 08:32 AM What build can you come up with that gives you the most amount of bonus feats? Considering races (Human, Strongheart Halfling, etc) and classes (Fighter, PsyWar, etc) that give bonus feats at early levels. The build itself and the feats you choose aren't the important part in this exercise. The important part is, how many bonus feats can you get by level 20? And they have to be bonus feats the player chooses. They can't be pre-determined bonus feat (such as how a Monk gets Deflect Arrows for free, or Rangers can have Two-Weapon Fighting).

Then I guess fighter and psychic warrior do not count, as they have a specific list to choose from also.

Monks and Rangers do get a choice, albeit a small one.

That's a good point. As long as it states "Bonus Feat" in the class's table, then it would count as a bonus feat (as long as you have a choice of at least 2 different feats).

11-08-06, 10:13 AM Well, human Monk 2 / Ranger 2 / Fighter 2 / Psychic Warrior 2 gets 7 'choices' in 8 levels. Human bumps to 8.

Do cleric domains count as bonus feats? We can throw in 2 domains for 2 more feats (such as war and time) hitting 10. We're obviously going Exalted so Sword of Righteousness nets us 3 more (13) at ECL 12. I'll take the lazy way out and add 8 more levels of fighter for 4 more feats (17).

VoP throws 10 more feats on there for 27 total bonus feats chosen at level 20.
Total Build: Human Monk 2 / Ranger 2 / Fighter 10 / Psychic Warrior 2 / Cleric 1 / Sword of Righteousness 3.
BaB: 17

Fighter 2/Psywar 2/UA Warrior 2/UA Expert 2/UA Spellcaster 1/Wu Jen 3/Mage of the Arcane Order 2/Eldritch Knight 1/Martial Rogue (Unearthed Arcana Variant Class) 2/Monk 2/X 1

The above build gains 16 feats over 19 levels; however, I still haven't figured out the last level yet, so yeah...

On a side note, Monk 2 gives improved unarmed strike and a familiar grants alertness, putting this build at 43 total feats and 45 with two flaws. This surpasses the World Record of 42 feats in a build.

Heck I'm bored, I might as well take a stab at that record without flaws.

The bold indicates a net gain of 3 feats, giving you 46 feats. I won't do a level-by-level analysis, just trust me that you get enough feats to meet any pre-requisites.
-Assuming heroics Does Not Stack you could squeeze 47 in there with a paid casting, scroll or Precocious Apprentice?.

edit: turns out VoP is 11 not 10 feats.

And is mixing settings kosher? FR / Eberron in the same build?

Thsoe are class abilities, not feats.

11-08-06, 02:04 PM what about gestalt? A feat Rogue // Fighter would have a ton. A feat Rogue // Fighter w/ VoP and 2 levels of Psychic Warrior would have the most "free" feats. A feat Rogue // Monk 2 / Ranger 2 / Fighter 14 / Psychic Warrior 2 w/ VoP has the most total feats. A character that can cast Polymorph or be changed via Polymorph has most every feat in the creature description as extraordinary abilities.

You still get to pick VoP feats: they're free choices. Just like the elections: you only have 2-6 candidates to choose from, but its still your choice. Fighters can't just choose any feat for their bonus feats: none of their feats should count by your definition.

That's a good point. As long as it states "Bonus Feat" in the class's table, then it would count as a bonus feat (as long as you have a choice of at least 2 different feats).
