| GoofsterStud05-11-05, 03:21 PM | I'm a poor college student... (Not actually poor, but you know how it goes.) I prefer to play the Mellee combat oriented rolls. Usually Paladin/Barbaian/Fighters...or a mix of. Currently I have the following: Races of Wild (I couldn't resist the race flavor) Complete Warrior Book of Exalted Deeds Sword and Fist What books would you recommend for what I like to play. |
| cvazi05-11-05, 03:41 PM | races of stone is a must have. and just cuz I have to plug it wherever I go, Expanded psionics handbook is awesome for every situation, just may not be allowed everywhere. |
| rilem05-11-05, 04:05 PM | XpsiHndbk is great — but he's poor, and most of it is available through the System Reference Document. Races of Stone is very good — but Complete Warrior has a lot more feats, including a bunch of very nice tactical feats that can significantly help a melee combatant. |
| GoofsterStud05-11-05, 04:29 PM | I'm looking to buy up to two books. Apperently Races of Stone has lots of good combatant builds... I also heard Complete Divine and Dragonomic have some good prestige classes for melee fighters. Just trying to get a feel. We don't play Psyonics currently, so with that being said is it still worth it? |
| deduke05-12-05, 05:15 AM | I think complete warrior has better melee prestige classes then complete divine and draconomicon combined so for melee types i would buy races of stone and complete warrior |
| happymoocow05-12-05, 05:28 AM | only the pious templar in the complete divine is good so you might just want to jot down the first four levels easy to memorize. |
| Bommelnator05-12-05, 06:59 AM | i'd recommend miniatures handbook, most classes and prestigeclasses in there are real good. (well, most. healer needs some serious buffing, but rest is quite ok or really awesome afaik) |
