Anyone else feel this way? I've been here much less frequently as of late due to my extreme boredom with min-maxing. It's always the same old same old. I've just been playing all sorts of variants trying to challenge myself and my players when I DM. Just a thought. Perhaps it's due to the lack of available material fully 3.5 compatible?:(

I've been here, but I haven't been posting much.

I think things will pick up again when some of the upcoming products are released.

I don't anticipate much using the miniatures handbook, but we'll probably see some (we already are seeing a few things).

I'd expect a wave with the player's supplement for forgotten realms since there will be revised versions of a LOT of 3.0 material in there.

3.5 incantatrix alone should prompt a wave of builds.

That's kind of why I haven't been posting here much. I'm actually getting ready to run my own campaign so I'm pretty psyched about that.

Plus, I kind of got burned out min/maxing everything. I'm at the point now where I would rather try out interesting character concepts even if they aren't the most powerful. I still know all the min/max mechanics but I would rather apply them to a character I've never played before or creating an NPC to catch my players off-guard.

this month alone should see some improvement with the release of BoED, Underdark, and the MHB. draconomican in Nov, and Complete Warrior in Dec. not to mention the FR Players Guide. there will be plenty of material coming out in the next three months to inspire the min/maxers out there.

not that i've been much of a regular or anything but lately i haven't been able to come up with anything worth posting. i've got some neat builds in my folders but they pale in comparison to most of the other builds of their type (i.e. sword and board, TWF, THF, uber-dc casters, etc.)

i think the next couple of months will provide some insight into new builds. i really hope the BoED isn't as unplayable as the BoVD seemed to be. i haven't found a DM yet that will allow anything out of the BoVD except for the feats...w00t...

either way...just my 0.02 cp

BoED does appear to have some really cool abilities, but also seems a bit on the higher side of the power curve.

Although the phoenix spell looks sweet. High level caster about to be mobbed? See no feasable escape? Take em down wit ya.

To me, min/max is mostly about rules mastery and learning about all the newest material. And if I ever got bored with that, then I would have to be bored with D&D... not sure if that's even possible, it would be kinda sad if it happened actually.:smirk:

Hey Eagle Prince, what's your sig from? If it's a poem or song or something, could you point me to the rest of it? I can't seem to find anything resembling it on the net and I'd like to see the whole thing, if there is one...thanks mucho.

Morandir, try to use the PM-function for messages like this.

back to topic:

i kind of agree with eagle prince, even with the boards tending to not having much new for some times.

there are some new things from time to time, but mostly i spend my time here helping some newbies (to find the right board :) )

but since i now found a new project together with mucknuggle i am kind of motivated again.

beside of this i gain knowledge by playing my theoretical builds, that way i changend my last build from grapple to trip for example, and i tend to give this experience out here and see if there are people sharing it.

anyhow:
i still enjoy hanging around here, but maybe i am just fleeing my scripts

Sorry, its not from any type of poem or anything. I just made it up for my signature. Well, there is actually kind of a story behind it, its based on a character I made up.

I couldn't agree more, WyvernSlayer. I've cruised these boards for some time now - usually to get a little inspiration for a new character - and lately, I haven't come away inspired at all.

Personally, I'm a little tired of seeing the perfect sneak attacker, the perfect charger, the perfect disarmer. I wouldn't tell someone how they should enjoy their game, but for me, playing in 'god mode' gets boring pretty quickly.

Chris, I think you've nailed it on the head with the "interesting character concepts". I find that often it's a PC's flaws that make the PC fun.

The good news (for me) is that there are still a wack of characters rolling around in my brain that have yet to see the light of day, so while I'm getting a little bored with the CO board, I'm still keen to play as often as I can.
