If anyone is up to it, I have a challenge: Create a Bard 10/Monk 10 which is optimized. All non-campaign specific 3.5 materials are allowed to be used. The ability scores are as follows: 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 10 - You can put them in any order. These are the 2 classes I see the most complaints about, so I'd like to see if it's possible to make this into an effective character. |

| X-Codes12-14-06, 05:49 AM | Erm... regardless of what we come up with it will be nearly impossible to implement in any game because of the restrictions of the two classes... For example, Monk is Lawful Only, while Bard is Non-Lawful Only. Thats just the least of them, too. The closest you will get is my Sublime Swordsage (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10178720&postcount=424) build, which isn't actually a Monk but rather a Swordsage/Bard multiclass that happens to fight Unarmed. |

But Monk10 is an inherently unoptimal level — you miss out on Greater Flurry and Diamond Body by a single level. Better to go either Monk12/Bard8 or Monk8/Pal2/Bard10 with Ascetic Knight, Devoted Performer and Monastic Training. Even better would be Overwhelming Attack(UA) Monk8/SoldierofLight2/Bard10 with Ascetic Mage (some benefits of the A.M. feat work even without Sorceror levels). Feats: Ascetic Mage, Superior Unarmed Strike, Versatile Unarmed Strike, Song of the Heart*, Snowflake Wardance, Power Attack*, Improved Bull Rush*, Improved Overrun*, Divine Might, Extra Turning, Combat Brute, Arcane Strike. BAB 15, 4th level spells, 2d6 Unarmed Damage (can be slashing) Cha to Saves, AC, To hit (Snowflake Wardance) and damage (Divine Might). With 16 in Str. and 18 in Cha and Bardic Song +4 (with Inspirational Boost) and the boost from A.M., you'll be throwing attacks at +30 for 2d6+19 damage without items. |
