| ck2001wendt02-17-05, 12:43 AM | If you've been following "The Answer" thread, then you know the interesting (and most controversial) aspect of that build is the ability to effectively get a pre-epic weapon with an enchantment bonus of greater than +10 (+23, actually) that lasts all day through a combo of: A. the spell Greater Magic Weapon B. the item Necklace of Natural Attacks (SS) C. the Kensai's Signature Weapon class ability That's not what this is about. But along those lines (and we'll see how new, interesting, and legal this ends up being): According to the A&EG, you can enchant Bracers with Armor special abilities. Your Bracers of Armor can have up to +13 in total mods (up to +8 of which can be Armor). That's up to +5 or +12 in special abilities (depending on how you read the entry). Obviously, Armor bonuses from two sources don't stack (you take the highest). But special abilities from different sources should, assuming you aren't duplicating anything. So a while a character with a maxed out suit of Armor and Shield (casting Magic Vestament twice each morning) can get up to +28 in enhancements and special abilities (+10 in AC bonuses, +18 in special abilities), the same character wearing +1 Bracers of Armor can get up to +40 (+10 in AC bonuses, +30 in special abilities). This won't be useful for everything. Energy Reistance costs the same either way. Certain abilities (including my new favorite, Buffering, also from A&EG) are based on Armor bonus, so you want to stick those on your best armor. But for the rest...you have a very cost efficient way of getting an extra couple armor enhancements. For example: +5 Plate Mail, Minor Fortification (+1), Soulfire (+4) = 100,000 GP (plus MW armor costs) +5 Plate Mail and a set of +1 Bracers w. Minor Fortification, Soulfire = 61,000 GP. With Moderate Fort = 99,000 GP. Something to consider, when you're trying to squeeze some of these things into a GP cap, or you want a way to pick up that extra enhancement that would otherwise put you over +10 on your suit of armor. |

| catharz02-17-05, 01:02 AM | This is old news. You can create slotless Bracers with Armor at 2x the normal cost, which usually ends up being a lot cheaper when you're talking about 5 of them. To go all out grab an Animate shield, Chain shirt, Dastana [A&EG], and Chahar-aina. Enchant them all as normal. Then get some bracers of armor. Enchant them as normal. Then make some slotless bracers of armor. All the enhancements (literally) at a fraction of the price! MorandirNailo, you beat me to it! |

I thought so, but I'd never seen it in a build before (well, perhaps once). And yet people were flipping out at the prospect of a +23 weapon... So now what you're telling me is, that I can start picking up several slotless Necklaces of Natural Attacks...[shivers]... |
