Brainstorming for a Undevoted Cleric [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-28-06, 02:48 AM I'm working on a character for an upcoming campaign. I have a good idea of the concept, but I'm having trouble coming up with prestige classes and feats to fit the flavor I'm aiming for, and still be at least respectable power-wise. The idea is an undevoted nuetral cleric with the time and fate domains. (Note: I know the granted abilities for these domains, but I forget where I saw them, could you help out?) His domains give him uncanny dodge and improved initiative, so that leads me to think of him not so much of a tank as some clerics can be. My primary constraint, however, is that whatever feats/prestige classes/spells/etc are suggested, they fit the flavor I'm aiming for. Some things I have considered are entropomancer, divine oracle, and contemplative. I'm also considering heroic destiny from Races of Destiny along with Fearless Destiny, and Divine Metamagic is a strong possibility too. So, suggestions?

03-28-06, 03:05 AM Define "undevoted" - Power of Faerun has a VERY good description on how a Cleric can become a heretic of his faith and still draw Clerical powers from his deity. Something like that, or are you looking for someone disillusioned?

By undevoted I mean he doesn't worship any one particular deity. Rather, he worhips a concept/philosophy, and is granted power by supernatural powers governing that philosophy. In this case, he's a cleric of time, fate, destiny, etc.

With Time and Fate, I'd say some kind of Destiny thing would be right up your alley.

As to prestige classes, Divine Oracle (to divine destinies) works well; Contemplative, according to the requirements, involves meeting your deity, so that's a no-go.

I agree that Divine Oracle would work well; he could also use Contemplative as it does not require meeting a deity - it can be a being representing the highest ideals of his/her faith. (Don't have my books, so can't quote exactly, but pretty sure that's correct :) )
