| DeathOfRats02-21-04, 06:35 PM | So, you picked up the Draconomican, you read Savage Species.....you also managed to convince a DM to let you play a Brass Dragon. So where would you go from now? How would you plan to progress and what feats would you choose? Thanks for the input in advance :) |
| LordShade02-21-04, 08:57 PM | depends, what kind of tactics do you want to use? For a good melee dragon build, do a search for my bronze dragon. Alternately you could take the flying feats from draconomicon (wingover, hover, flyby, and power climb) and strafing breath from Dragonlance and focus on breath. You could also go with a combat control build using things like Large and In Charge, with warstomp etc. You could go with a magic-focused dragon and pick metamagic feats (suboptimal IMO). Regardless of which build you take, make sure you take Recover Breath. It's too good to pass up. edit - if you look through the draconomicon, btw, you'll notice that almost all the young adult+ dragons take the following four feats: power attack, hover, wingover, and ...I forget the last one. |
| Boondoggle02-22-04, 12:27 AM | Answer me these questions three, ere the other side you'll see-- er, ere a satisfactory answer you'll get? What age dragon? what level? what melee strategy do you prefer? |
| DeathOfRats02-22-04, 02:04 AM | It's level 6, and I really don't mind any strategy of fighting....I wondered what they were best suited for. |
| horndgod02-22-04, 03:34 AM | Read over the combat tactics of dragons offered in the Draconimicon. Then, convince your DM to let you play a gem dragon. ;) They all get fire resistance 20 and plane shifting. (Actually, I'm just partial to gem dragons.) |
| Boondoggle02-22-04, 04:04 AM | What age dragon? The only brass dragon you could play (without breaking it down into monster levels) is a wyrmling (ELC +6), but those are size Tiny and won't be very powerful in combat. |
| DeathOfRats02-22-04, 04:40 AM | Yeah, it's just a tiny dragon and aint much good in combat right now....I just wanted to prep him for when he gets bigger and nastier. The plan right now seems to be pump his Con up nice and high so his sleep BW works well....then get something to improve the frequency at which he can use his breath weapon. Combat can wait for now, as the MM says...brass dragons prefer flight to fight, and will talk forever :) |
| helicopter02-22-04, 10:46 AM | its also important to play your dragon's magic items to the hilt. they are expert at cunning ways to use them. choose them wisely.. |
