| Paradisio03-07-05, 12:57 AM | You've heard the stories of my DM, I want to show him how broken you can be with 3.5 and his limited restrictions :P Books allowed: Core Complete Series Book of Exalted Deeds Races Series Anything 3.5 that is provable that is 3.5 (says 3.5 on front, or 3.5 on credits page, or has a DR for monsters that are by 3.5 rules. Note: He doesn't think having a 2004 publish date counts it as 3.5) No psionics. No campaign specific books (IE Eberron or FRCS books) No Dragon Magzines Can use web enhancements Starting Level: 4 (granted I live through this next battle) Starting gold/items: -Rolled from classes....starting package, don't get items from the package. -Get 1 free armor or weapon, non magical. -Get 1 magic armor or weapon of my choice, as long as it isn't too power (IE about 1 enhancement, no specific items) The party PKr is gone for now, so my survivablility for now is decent. |
| Tempest Stormwind03-07-05, 01:00 AM | Core + Complete + Web enhancements = Dwoemercheater. Core + Complete = Any number of ba-roken builds, most of them melee or based on insane Ur-priest caster levels (or, Core+Complete+Races = Hulking Hurler or absurd Deepwarden; deepwarden + wild shape (plant) = infinite CON -> Infinite HP, AC, and Fort saves). BOED = Lotsa fun with Champ of Gwyn, Lion of Talsid, and of course Exalted Wild Shape. Druid remains potent in this. Especially if you work in the BoED and Draconomicon (which is 3.5). |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 01:08 AM | We'll I need something that can survive at the level I am now while being able to contribute at least a little to the party. Level 10, is probably about a year or playing off (considering the average exp per session is the 50 I get for roleplaying well.) Thats considering If I stay with the group if the Pker comes back before I can handle him. |
| Tempest Stormwind03-07-05, 01:11 AM | If you can survive to level 5, Druid is still your best bet, IMHO. Yekoj's uberling druid's handbook, while written with a lot of 3.0 material in mind (most has been revised), can be a great resource here. |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 01:20 AM | Well maybe Ill just stick with my current character who is a druid :p The level 2 who will probably gain 4 levels after the next battle if she lives (I estimate the total CR of everyone we are killing to be roughly 70+). |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 01:25 AM | On a side note, I am actually in progress of revising his thread to 3.5 only rules, although I need to get in contact with him before I post it, since it is roughly based on his thread, and I would feel wrong about it if I didn't. Any ideas on what spells I should memorize as a druid that is at sea at lot on a wind powered boat? Dealing with pirates/sea monsters. Also, you mentioned something about BOED having something good for druids, care to elaborate? |
| Blade271803-07-05, 01:31 AM | Exalted Wildshape is great for Druids; celestial animal forms, unicorns, and blink dogs are awesome. |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 02:17 AM | If someone can explain to me something semi related. If you wildshape into a creature who has multiple natureal attacks, say bear for example, but your base attack bonus isnt high enough for multiple attacks, what happens? |
| Antendren03-07-05, 02:20 AM | You get the natural attacks as normal. Natural attacks and iterative attacks are completely disjoint mechanics. |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 02:29 AM | @_@ Is there a page this is explained on? So I do all my natural attacks... then I would get more from my BAB? Which would I get if so? |
| Tempest Stormwind03-07-05, 03:42 AM | @_@ Is there a page this is explained on? So I do all my natural attacks... then I would get more from my BAB? Which would I get if so? Choose between iterative attack routine (normal base attack), or your natural attack routine. For instance, a druid with base attack +6 wildshapes into a bear. He can choose to make two iterative attacks with a single weapon at +6/+1, OR he can make 2 claws at +6 and a bite at +1 (I think; I'm going from memory here). These are further modified by Strength. Note that this is the same regardless of your base attack bonus, so if you somehow get, say, a +19 attack bonus, you're still only able to go 2 claws, 1 bite. Natural attack routines are also slightly different. One attack form is primary, the others are all secondary. In the above example, the claws were primary, and all attacks with them were made with full base attack, and full strength modifier on damage. All others are secondary attacks (above, just the bite, but in other forms it could be bites, tentacles, wings, tail slap, etc), made at -5, and have 1/2 strength on damage. (The Multiattack feat reduces this penalty to -2.) Hope that clears up some stuff. |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 06:11 PM | Core + Complete + Web enhancements = Dwoemercheater. Can you give me some advice on a dwoemercheater for 3.5 without using campaign speicific books? |
| Tempest Stormwind03-07-05, 07:11 PM | Can you give me some advice on a dwoemercheater for 3.5 without using campaign speicific books? I see you found the Cheater thread. Well, read through the whole thing. It's daunting, but worth it. Now, take out Initiate of Mystra and look for amazing spells in Complete Divine to replace some of the spells that feat gave you. There are enough, believe me. You specifically said "web enhancements" -- the Dwoemerkeeper, the key to the whole thing, shows up in the Player's Guide to Faerun web enhancement. No campaign "books." I know, cutting it close.... |
| PhoenixInferno03-07-05, 07:53 PM | Actually, Dweomerkeeper is in the Complete Divine web-enhancement...however, what makes it really broken is Magical Training so you don't have to take a level of arcane casting. |
| Paradisio03-07-05, 07:53 PM | Actually, its in the complete divine enhancement, I can't use region specific stuff, even web enhancements (unless I totally misread it.) So the key is to mantle spells that required materials/experience so you can cast them for free? Can you ever change out your mantle (aside from adding new ones to it?) |
| Tempest Stormwind03-07-05, 08:47 PM | Actually, its in the complete divine enhancement, I can't use region specific stuff, even web enhancements (unless I totally misread it.) So the key is to mantle spells that required materials/experience so you can cast them for free? Can you ever change out your mantle (aside from adding new ones to it?) My bad, sorry. The key lies in Supernatural Miracle (and other goodie spells), with stuff like Persistent Spell (now in Complete Arcane) and Divine Metamagic (Complete Divine) for the buffs of the gods. Your mantle is set for good once you choose it. |
| Cold Napalm03-08-05, 02:07 AM | Well those books are what we use pretty much...and I have a few tricks that will make him cry, but nothing at level 4. It's kinda hard to break things before level 8ish at least and evrything I have breaks around level 12. Oh yeah look into two magic items...starmantle cloak and ring of evasion. You don't need the ring if your a monk or level 2 rogue. |
