(Note: This trick was discovered by Jackelope King. :))

Disclamer: I do not own Complete Divine, and therefore I'm probably not the most qualified person to try to postulate/impliment this (though that won't stop me from trying). This post is based entirely off of what I could glean from the boards and my quick look at the book. Anyway.

The Spirit Shaman has a special method of metamagicing spells: When he retrieves his spells for the day, he applies a metamagic feat to those spells that he wishes to cast with the metamagic, and from that point on he can cast that (metamagiced) spell any number of times (within his spells-per-day limit). The trick is that, while he can cast the spell multiple times per day, he only uses the metamagic feat once. This usually doesn't matter, but it is a massive advantage when dealing with things that give a limited number of metamagic feat usages per day- MM Rods and Divine Metamagic in particular. The SS can take one metamagic application and turn it into ten.

If the above is correct, a build such as:

Human Cleric 1/Spirit Shaman 14/Divine Disciple 5 (anyone with Complete Divine care to work six levels of Contemplative in there?) of Obad-Hai

Domains: Air, Water, Plant

Feats:
Human: Extra Turning
1: Divine Metamagic (Persistant Spell)
3: Divine Metamagic (Quicken Spell)
6: Divine Metamagic (Twin Spell)
9: Divine Metamagic (Intensify Spell)
12: Extra Turning/Divine Metamagic/Whatever
15: See 12
18: See 12

Would be *very* powerful, with 20 + 4 * Charisma Mod Turning attempts (can you use Elemental Turnings to power Divine Metamagic?), which would then turn into multiple-use metamagics.

Of course, this abuse is entirely dependent on the postulate that the Spirit Shaman only applies a given metamagic feat to a given spell once.

IIRC, the elemental and plant turning attempts can't be used. The feats in question specifically state "Turn undead" attempts.

Ah, that throws a wrench in it (though I was expecting it somewhat). Still, it's an immensely powerful trick, especially if you combine it with Metamagic rods.

Divine Metamagic is also not a metamagic feat. It's a divine feat.

Yes, I'm aware of that.

well, the wording on the Spirit Shaman begins with "If the spirit shaman knows any metamagic feats"... That should be enough to make my point, but not enough to violate any copyrights...
