Use the animal companion later as a barrier between you and the baddies. Once you're a dragon, grab Meta-Breath and Flight related spells. Any spell suggestions for the lower levels? |
| Snow Savant06-30-05, 03:49 PM | On a related note, the Sorc/Wiz 5 (Cleric 5 too) spell called Dragon Breath is an incredibly awesome spell. Not so much for the elemental damage options, but for the Brass Dragon option. The 15' Cone of Sleep (1d6 rounds of Sleep if WILL save is failed), unlike the Sleep spell, has no HD limit as to who it can effect! This spell is also a good candidate for Divine Metamagic, as it is a Personal spell with a 1 round/level duration. ** It's found in the CompDiv book. |

RacialTaoist pointed out a month or so ago that there is a better version of this spell found in the Draconomicon, and that using it would qualify you for the meta-breath spells and feats. I used it with Dispelling Breath (spell), Clinging Breath (feat) and Rebuking Breath. |
| PonTelon06-30-05, 05:10 PM | Gah, didn't see this thread when I just posted my build. Child of Dragons Check it out for some more ideas. I ran with the idea someone else had on using Dracconic Breath with metabreath feats. I'm currently using my build at level 2. |

| obrysii06-30-05, 06:01 PM | The build I'm currently using (at level 8 now) is: Bullywug (put an 18 into con) Hexblade 4/Talon of Tiamat 10/Dragon Disciple 6. It ends up having quite a few different breath weapons to choose from. At level 8, when I heighten my breath, the DC is 34. (10 base + 2 hd + 11 con + 11 heighten). |

I used it with Dispelling Breath (spell), Clinging Breath (feat) and Rebuking Breath. I wouldn't call it a better version ... because Sorc/Wiz spells that rely on damage production tend to be sub-optimal. Especially at higher level play when the HD of creatures scales way much higher than the linear progression of most magic damage spells (of which Dragon Breath does not do - i.e. 1 HD damage / 2 levels). Ouch. The Draco version is significantly cheaper in spell level (3rd compared to 5th), but it doesn't allow the Sleep option. And honestly, the Sleep option is usually superior because it finishes fights right there and then. Divine Metamagic on the Draco book's version is also sub-optimal, because of the limited charges. If you are going to DivMeta/Persist a spell, it better damn well last all day long. The 5th level version has unlimited charges, which fits better with DivMeta. |
| glutton06-30-05, 07:53 PM | You can make a pretty decent fighter with a potent breath weapon 3/d If you're half dragon. We rean into a NPC half dragon/half dwarf that was Barb 5/ Dragon Samurai 10. DC and damage on his Breath weapon were impressive. Anyone know of another class like Dragon Samurai (the breath weapon stacking part at least) might be fun to finish off a level 20 build with 5 levels of something similiar. Or even Bear Warrior " You see a bear. it breathes fire. DC 36 reflex saves please." :thinks: |
