Righto, obviously another post requesting the help of you fine people who have a much easier time of broken character creation than I. I've gotten my paladin blasted into limbo and surrounded by Slaads which, I'm sure I don't have to tell you, is a rather unfortunate position for a Lawful Good Paladin Saint who deals out justice like it were water to be. I'd love to keep him, but I feel his lifespan is fated to be slightly shorter than optimal. So. I come to you for help.
I'm considering some sort of arcane caster as my next character, though preferably spontaneous, so either sorceror, bard, or hexblade, and I'm leaning a bit toward hexblade since I want to be somewhat combat efficient, although as long as he can cast arcane spells I'll be happy. I'm wondering what to do for race, since I want a mildly broken character. Spell-like abilities would be appreciated but aren't required, and something slightly off. For that purpose I was toying with the idea of werewolf (partly for low level adjustment, mostly for style), though anything within 2-3 level adjustment would be appreciated. Any tips on playing it, as well as character plan would be great. I'm trying to work on a slightly darker character since I've been playing a paladin and want to work on versatility. Any help you can give me would be vastly appreciated. Thanks.

What level character are you going to make? Can you use Complete Arcane?

What level? Any specific race you want to play? What books do you have available?
Since I don’t know what level I will just post for 20 levels.

1) Elf Fighter 2nd/wizard 5th/Eldritch Knight 6th/Bladesinger 7th
(BAB +17, caster 14=7th level spells, 11 feats)

2) Halfling Rogue 3rd/wizard 5th/Arcane Trickster 8th/Fatespinner 4th
(BAB +10 (design around ray spells and BA wont matter much), 17th caster=9th level spells, sneak attack of +6d6,evasion and a lot of nice abilities)

3) Human Monk 2nd/wizard 6th/Enlightened Fist 10th/Argent Savant 2nd
(Abilities of a 12th level monk, BAB of +12, 15th caster=8th level spells, and very nice abilities included evasion and force spell abilities)

4) Aasimar Paladin 3rd/sorcerer 4th/spellsword 9th/eldritch knight 4th
(BAB +18, very nice paladin abilities including adding cha to saves, 12th caster=6th level spells, channel spell and 30% reduction on armor spell failure)

5) Human Cleric 3rd/Wu Jen 3rd/Mystic Theurge 10th/Halruaan Elder 4th
(cleric 13th caster, wujen 17th caster, some nice abilities) I would be a patron of Mystra (and take feat of Initiate of Mystra at 3rd level), I would also take persistant spell and Divine Metamagic(persistant).
Useing your turn attempts to persistant spells like Divine Power, Divine Favor, Holy Star.

Hope these give you an idea of what you are looking for.

Well, If you want to be able to melee with your char and cast arcane spells then i'd recommend you to search for one of the various gish threads on this board. The latest gish build i have seen hab at level 20 a cl of 20 and a BAB of 18, so, not to shaby. But I would advise you to stay away from races with a ecl, for this loss of casterlevel will harm a gish even more than a normal caster.

If you're going to do the Bladesinger thing, I'd definitely suggest taking 3 levels of Swashbuckler instead of fighter levels to get Int bonus to damage. It has great synergy with the bladesinger's Int to AC. I think you can also cheese Int bonus to attack by using the Arcane Duelist/Power Attack combo.

Ah, sorry, I forgot to mention that. We generally start a new character around level 5. However, ecl adjustment isn't too terrible a thing because we get a goodly amount of experience (and I make it a habit to roleplay). So. Level 5 character, somewhat dark, hexblade-ish, ECL adjustment of up to 2, as well as some feat suggestions. I was considering taking one level of fighter for the starting and bonus feat and looking at Silent and Still Spell. Worth it?

As for books, feel free to use anything. I'll copy the information out of whatever book is needed if I need to. Also, I'm looking to stay primarily hexblade. A few levels of rogue eventually, perhaps, maybe even one or two of fighter (for casting feats), but no PrC's for now.
