This was originally a cleric build involving the use of magic items to control a virtually unlimited number of grains of sand, however due to constraints involving the Animate Objects spell I turned to Animate Dead in stead. The general premise is this creating a cleric which can cast Animate Dead to optimum effect (I used True Necromancer (Gasp) you can then animate a number of individual ants, not giant ants but tiny little ants, or in this case "Fine" sized ants, with about 1/20th of a hit die (Or lower), now when a dead creature with an intact corpse is re-spaned as a zombie it looses 1/2 its hit dice so it becomes a 1/40thD12 hit die creature, which means that per caster level a whopping 160 individual ants can be controlled (Even with a 1/16th that becomes a 1/32nd and thus 128 ants/whatver 1/16th hit die creature you made). These ants are immune to critical hits and each act individually on their own intiative, so you can then have them do many things for you once you aquire several thousand (Part of build) which can then act as any number of things, and this can be done by about 9th level.

Here's the build
Cleric 3
Sorcerer 3
True Necromancer 14
Take Practiced Spellcaster on the Cleric and Sorcerer to have an effective caster level of 23 in each (that's 4HD of undead per caster level * 27 *2 for a whopping 52 HD of undead, times the 130 from before and that becomes 6760 undead ants, you can also expand this with various feats and items whcih I am currently too tired to look up (But will be expanding this later however want commentary on this initial build).

In addition you have all the benefits of having 7th level cleric and sorcerer spells, and also the high spells per day allows for quick re-plenishing of your supply hsould it get AOEd (Since they have 1 HP anyway...

Now each ant is it's own independant creature which means that they can effectively attack independently upon your orders for over 6000 attacks per round, granted attacks that deal 1 damage with about a -12 to hit, however averages state that at least 5% of that 6000 will hit for average 200(+crits) damage per round from your little minions, or you can have them aid another on you as nanobots for similar bonuses, and in addition aiding anotehr on strength checks you can effectively destroy any object, and beat most skill checks, similarly to the nanobots tactic (But a good deal less effectively as they are mindless undead) The real benefit of this is that you can start it at a high number at a relatively low level and maintain the general abilities of the other class levels on top of that.

Also a sickening way to enter TN is to use Wizard 6/Ur-Preist 3 and then take TN as you get full casting in the divine spells and near full arcane progression.

There are probably holes in this and I do realize that this isn't an instant win build however just an interesting 11:33 PM build IMO.

You can't qualify for TN with Ur-Priest. TN requires you to have the Death domain and Ur-Priest requires you to give up all previous divine spellcasting.

Check out Necrosis in the Triad of Shadows link in my .sig.

Plently of decent TN goodness.

No such animals. That is to say, there are no Fine Ants, not that are statted.
Try for tiny. I suggest celestisl/feindish monkey corpses, or Bats(they might be smaller).

Can you qualify for TN at sorcerer 3? And I'd suggest wizard over sorc, anyhow.

Your math is off, too.

4 HD × (23 × 2) = 184 HD.

EDIT: Don't forget an ioun stone to add to caster level. And that one awesome rod from LM.

It may be 4th level for sorcerer, and if that's the case seap 1 wizard level for cleric with death domain and forsake spellcasting to get ur-preist.

True but I know there is an MM1 creature statted at 1/16th hit die so you can use that, and since they loose all benefits of special abilites when they become undead there's no point in the templates.

And I fixed the typo in the post thanks for pointing it out, so weaker nanobots at 7th level and if you wait until about 10th you can get full ur-preist and wizard.

Applying the zombie or skeleton template automatically increases the monster's HD to a minimum of 1. So no 1/16 HD zombies.

Edit: Hmm... I swear I thought this was the case, but when I looked at those templates again, this limitation is stated in the part about dropping hit dice from class levels. It might not apply if the creature has no class levels.

Also, what you're talking about here has been done before on the CO boards. Go check out the Nanobot thread (can find the link in Surreal's list I think). The Aid Another action is probably the best use for these things. Also make sure to take Tomb-tainted Soul and Destruction Retribution. :D

I cited the nanobot thread in the post as a source for some of the inspiration, as the original goal of this build was to start it out before the nanobot build got going, however there wasn't quite a way to emulate quite the same level of power when at the top of the build.

and thanks for the feats, I was also going to reccomend the corpsecrafter feats as well (as that increases the damage output on the attacks by D6s in cold damage very quickly)

A Composite Sorceror (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=224419) qualifies at 3, instead of 4. Also, it sucks a lot less.
