| v4l3r1o11-16-05, 05:14 AM | Well I like very much the Magelord from "Lost Empires of Fearun" (pag. 17-18) Entry Requirements Skills: Intimidate 3, Knowledge (Arcana & History) 6; Feats: Improve Initiative, Spell Mastery, Signature Spell, Weapon Focus (Ray); Spells: Ability to cast 5th-level arcane spells; Special: You must have the evasion special quality as either class feature or racial trait; Special: You may not be lawful in alignment; ... So I serch a Prc that give me evasion without lost any spellcaster level. For example the Spelldancer (Magic of Fearun, pag 37) at the 2nd level gives you evasion. There is a race or some other Prc (like Spelldancer) that i can do to take evasion without lost my spellcaster levels? And how i can built it? I am waiting for suggestions, thak's a lot ^_^ |
| Black_Kaioshin11-16-05, 05:27 AM | Unfortunately, getting into spelldancer wouldn't help you. The prestige class requires 4 feats; those combined with the ones required to get into Magelord stack up to 8. If you were a human, you still would qualify until around 15th level, if that. |
| Santherus11-16-05, 05:55 AM | Is this the precise wording for evasion?: class feature or racial trait; As evasion can be picked up for the price of the Shape Soulmeld and Open Lesser Chakra (feet) feats from MoI otherwise... |
| Wizu11-16-05, 05:58 AM | Arcane dicipline or whatever that was that gave domains to your spells known, with healing domain. And check this out... COMBAT MEDIC! From Heroes of battle. Its 4th level ability is evasion, and its fifth level ability is heal spontaneously (Even from arcane spells.) Requires 7 feats to pull to get magelord, tho. You could do it by being human and having two flaws, or then just getting only 8 levels of magelord. Wild choises. =P |
| gabrion11-16-05, 07:52 AM | One controversial way to get "evasion" is through the precient sense ability of the Divine Oracle (CD). It's worded mostly the same as evasion, but many DMs won't let it count as that ability. If yours will, a two level dip will give you what you want. It advances any spellcasting (I'm guessing you will be a wizard?), and only takes one feat to enter. Knowledge (Religion) 8 ranks could be a problem though. |
| Zemyla11-16-05, 01:18 PM | Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int) So I don't think it will be a problem. |
| v4l3r1o11-16-05, 03:10 PM | Well, I can take thief2/wizard7/magelord10. But I don't like to loose 2lev of spellcasting. So I search to lose less than 2 levels with a PRC like Spelldancer (magic of fearun), loredelver (Races of destiny) or Combat medic(Heroes of Battle); or by a special Race(lep < 2). If I'm obliged to loose 2lev: What could be is the best optimization? Thank's a lot for your answers ^_^ ps. sorry for my english form :P |
| PonTelon11-16-05, 04:20 PM | Since F. Lyricist needs it to, there is this nice entry: How to get Evasion (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=5415226&postcount=2&origin=). Hope that helps. =) |
| batstek11-16-05, 04:35 PM | If UA is allowed, you could always use the Generic Spellcaster variant and just give it Evasion. |
| MorandirNailo11-16-05, 05:04 PM | If UA is allowed but you don't want the generic spellcaster, I'd suggest taking the Shadow template (explained in the post PonTelon referenced); lots of goodies there, and you can buy off the LA with the rules in UA. Another thing that's great in UA is the Illusionist specialist variants. One of the options you can choose allows you to automatically master (as with Spell Mastery) every illusion spell in your spellbook. Considering the power of Illusionists (check some of Snow's posts), this is an option that you'd be crazy not to take. Mor |
| v4l3r1o11-17-05, 02:06 PM | Ok. What is the best way to get evasion loosing 2lev? And how I can optimize the 9 spellcaster levels? Rogue2/Wizard5/Recaster5 or Incantatix5/Magelord8 ? or Human Wizard11/Spelldancer2/Magelord7 ? |
| Nightspirit11-17-05, 02:28 PM | Ok. What is the best way to get evasion loosing 2lev? And how I can optimize the 9 spellcaster levels? Rogue2/Wizard5/Recaster5 or Incantatix5/Magelord8 ? or Human Wizard11/Spelldancer2/Magelord7 ? If you can take flaws, go with a changeling wizard 5/spelldancer 2/recaster 5/magelord 8 OR grey elf wizard 5/spelldancer 5/magelord 10 |
| smrtgmp11-17-05, 10:41 PM | I like a shadow creature gnome illusionist 5/shadowcrafter 3/shadowcraft mage 5/Magelord 7. The shadow creature template can give you evasion, and the LA is only +2, meaning it can be bought off with relative ease (assuming you use the LA buyoff). Then use the illusionist varient from UA that gives you instant spell mastery of all illusions you learn. That way once you get into magelord you'll be able to cast any illusion spell you know spontaneoulsy, in addition to any other spells you may have mastered. Add to that the fact that you can cast several figments as shadow spells and the fact that your shadow spells are 30% more powerful than usual and you've got one versitile little gnome. PS-dont forget your gnome illusionist racial substitution levels. |
| v4l3r1o11-18-05, 03:20 AM | I cannot take: template or extra rules for UA. in Player's Handbook, pag.57, is written that wizard's bonus feat could be: a metamagic feat, an item creation feat or Spell Mastery. Signature Spell (FR) has Spell Mastery as prerequisite and I think it could be taken by wizard's bonus feat at 10th.(opinion?) So I think: Human Wizard10/Spelldancer2/Magelord8 1)Wiz Combat Casting, Dodge 2)Wiz 3)Wiz Mobility 4)Wiz 5)Wiz Spell Mastery (bonus feat) 6)Wiz Endurance 7)Spd 8)Spd (Evasion) 9)Wiz Improve Initiative 10)Wiz 11)Wiz 12)Wiz Weapon Focus (Ray), Signature Spell (bonus feat) 13-20)Mgl... You loose only a level of Magelord cdp(Rogue2/Wiz9/Mgl9), but preserv all spellcaster levels. Wat do you think about it? Any suggestion about Feats from 13 to 20? Thank's a lot ^_^ |
| v4l3r1o11-18-05, 12:05 PM | Up  |
| Ty11-19-05, 01:14 PM | I believe one of the original writer's for this PrC indicated that the spellcasting requirement "should" have been 'able to cast 4th level arcane spells' since otherwise, the class as it appears in LEoF would never have finish at level 10 prior to the character reaching level 20. The exemplar for entry was originally Rogue2/Wizard7. I think if you scour the boards for LEoF either here or on the FR boards you should be able to locate this unofficial errata. Otherwise, talk to your DM about it because of the above stated reasons. Not the finest moment of the editors in catching potential errors in PrC requirements. |
