| Neratos12-06-06, 05:00 PM | Okay, i thought i would take a stab at a build to mimic Gluttony from FMA, since he is one of my favorite villans/characters and think it would make an interesting build. Now, this isn't an optimal Builld, which is why i am posting it here, in hopes you guys can help me tweak it. Gluttony http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e9/FMAGluttony.png Race: Dwarf Gluttony is a stout character, and a hairless (i know bizzare) fits the look of gluttony quite well. As well as the stat bonuses fit as well. Stat priority: Con/Str/Wis/Dex/Cha/Int Gluttony was quite hearty and strong. Gluttony was stupid but cunning, hence wisdoms priority. This also helps with the cleric casting. Alignment: NE Gluttony never really acted on his own, he was completely devoted to Lust. And his major motivation for his acts was out of hunger not malice. He is evil since his favorite snack is people Level Break Down: 4 Cleric + 2 Fighter + 10 Flux Adept + 4 Fighter The fighter levels give him his combat abilities, while the cleric takes Gluttony and Hunger as his domains, gaining a bite attack. Flux Adept yeilds him regeneration, claws, and the ability to consume anything. Feat Break Down: 1: Great Fortitude 3: Endurance 6: Sudden Still 9: Diehard 12: Willing Deformity 15: Willing Deformity (Obese) 18: Improved Natural Attack (Bite) 1F: Weapon Focus (Bite) 2F: Power Attack 4F: Weapon Specialization (Bite) 6: Cleave Bite attack should be used as much as possible, hence the focus on it. The rest of the feats are pretty open, but Gluttony was a competent fighter WF Version of Gluttony Race: Warforged Stat Priority: Con/Str/Cha/Dex/Wis/Int Soul eater works off of cha, which is why it is third. Only thing in my eyes that beaks the theme a little Class Breakdown: 1 Barbarian + 1 fighter + 1 Fighter WF Substitution + 1 Fighter + 1 Fighter WF Sub + 5 Warforged Juggernaut + 10 Soul Eater Barbarian is there for rage, WF Sub levels are there for feats and +2 dmg with slam attack. WF Juggy gets you immunities a homonculous would have, and soul eater is there for flavor (pun intended) and to represent hunger for the red stones Feat Breakdown 1 Adamantine Body 3 Improved Bull Rush 6 Weapon Focus (Bite) 9 Alertness 12 Second Slam 15 Improved Natural Attack (Bite) 18 Weapon Specialization (Bite) 1F Power Attack 2FS Jaws of Death again, focusing on his slam and bite. No Willing Deformity (obese) because it just doesn't seem right on a WF, also not sure if wanna spend the 2 feats on it. Also, adamantine body makes him weight a ton as it is, also he could just be built big. Since he is a wf, you can enchant his natural weapons. So enchant his bite to be +5 Acidic Burst Wounding and his slam +5 Speedy Unholly Edit: Added WF version of gluttony, as well as added suggestions to the previous build |
| Llochlyn12-06-06, 05:11 PM | you *need* Willig Deformity (Obesity) in here ! Cha : 3. Really. Never speaks, blindly follow orders... He has style, but no charisma at all, you can dump this stat... Where is the Flux adept from ? |
| Nanshork12-06-06, 05:18 PM | Where is the Flux adept from ? Dragon Magazine/ Dragon Compendium |
| Necromas12-06-06, 05:20 PM | I think there's a prc just about eating people. |
| Xaktsaroth12-06-06, 05:32 PM | Actually, this would be a nice addition to the Digital Character Conversion Thread in my .sig. |
| Skyrocket12-06-06, 08:36 PM | A famine spirit pretty much is Gluttony. IIRC, it's in MM3. |
| Cherubaddon12-06-06, 10:28 PM | I think there's a prc just about eating people. WHERE? That would be so awesome lol! BTW, who is Gluttony? |
| Phoenix0012-06-06, 10:41 PM | gluttony is one of the Homunculus of full metal alchemist. The Homunculi are a group of beings that are effectively immortal and can't be killed for they just regenerate all damage, similar to the Tarrasque in D&D. You just can't kill them. Additionally each one has a special ability(ies). Gluttony is a large fat man, who has a brain of a child, is virtually invulnerable compared to the other homunculi (invulnerable, not immortal all Homunculi are immortal due to there regeneration), strong, and can eat anything/dissolve it with his tongue. Eating is his most memorable ability, but the actual most common way he fight is smashing it first, then eating it when its trapped/defeated. |
| A Man In Black12-07-06, 12:14 AM | Hm. Tumbling, sneaky, ambush-happy sort who eats people whole? Rogue 10, specced to grapple. At rogue 10, he gets a rogue special ability, which he takes as a bonus feat. Bonus feats ignore prerequisites unless they say otherwise, so he takes Gape of the Serpent from Serpent Kingdoms, which gives him the ability to swallow whole in a grapple. |

Bonus feats ignore prerequisites unless they say otherwise, so he takes Gape of the Serpent from Serpent Kingdoms, which gives him the ability to swallow whole in a grapple. Um, bonus feats *don't* ignore prerequisites unless they say otherwise. You're misinterpreting the passage from the MM, which only applies to feats gained by being a particular type of creature, i.e. racial bonus feats. A monster gains feats just as a character does. Sometimes a creature has one or more bonus feats, marked with a superscript B (B). Creatures often do not have the prerequisites for a bonus feat. If this is so, the creature can still use the feat. If you wish to customize the creature with new feats, you can reassign its other feats, but not its bonus feats. A creature cannot have a feat that is not a bonus feat unless it has the feat’s prerequisites. The last line *also* doesn't say that *all* bonus feats ignore pre-requisites, just that no feats that are not bonus feats ignore pre-requisites. (The second to last line also says that bonus feats cannot be reassigned. Thus *every* rogue that wanted to gain a bonus feat would have to have the same feat, if you wanted to say that the rest of the passage about ignoring prerequisites applied) |
| Neratos12-07-06, 01:32 AM | Thanks for the replies, but i think he still needs work. My current build doesn't work, since Divine Crusader requires weapon focus, but i can't take WFoc before i have a bite attack. So how about this modification 4 Cleric + 1 Fighter + 10 Flux Adept + 5 Fighter I would like to drop the cleric levels for something like a dusk blade, so he could channel an acid spell through his bite, but i don't know of a way to get a bite attack outside of the domain. Also warforged and shifters don't fit the concept of the character, and also want to avoid level adjustments at all costs. I didn't choose willing deformity (obesity), because even though he was big, he wasn't fat. That deformity makes him really really fat, to the point he loses movement (-2 dex), and Gluttony was anything but slow or clumsy. Flux Adept is from the Dragon Compendium, and features Iron Stomach, which is able to take nutrients from anything including ash and regen 1. These are both big powers gluttony has, also it grants claw attacks as well, which is spiffy. If anyone can find a prestige devoted to eating, i am more than willing to check it out. Also, gluttony wasn't the sneaky type, he is more the upfront brute type. If anyone knows of good ways to augment his bite attack, that would be great. I will be updating the build tomorrow, for now i need to think about it some more. |

| X-Codes12-07-06, 02:30 AM | Gluttony IMO should be a Warforged. Homunculi are not Human and the Construct (Living) type IMO more accurately reflects the reality of what Gluttony is. Plus, Gluttony is a lot faster than he seems, so Dwarf doesn't seem appropriate there. Also, seeing as how Homunculi are essentially sins against creation, you almost *have* to throw in some Vile and Tainted feats, and Willing Deformity eventually leads not only to Deformity (Obese), but Deformity (Teeth) as well, which also gives a bite attack. So thats a bite attack, a slam attack, and then you could also use the unarmed attack progression. IUS, SUS, and Snap Kick with +16 BAB or more ends up with... Unarmed (2d6): +14/+14/+9/+4/-1 Slam (1d6): +9 Bite (1d4): +9 Theres undoubtedly more stuff in Serpent Kingdoms that makes that Bite attack much more nasty than it seems. Furthermore, he should almost certainly have levels in the Warrior of Darkness PrC. |
| Neratos12-07-06, 11:05 AM | Ah, cool, didn't know there was a deformity to get a bite attack, thanks! The reason i don't want him as a WF is because WF can't eat anything. They have no stomach, so he can't actually consume things. Otherwise, yes i would agree with you, on him being WF. Errrr, I can't find that Deformity (Teeth), where is that? |
| Llochlyn12-07-06, 11:37 AM | Now that I think of it, reforged quite fits the homunculi lust for life (woo woo) |
| SageBahamut12-07-06, 01:54 PM | You might also consider getting his tongue tattoo as a slotless item of Bite of the King (which is in the spell compendium). It's a frighteningly high-level spell, 7th or 8th I think, and Domain only. But it would suit him flawlessly. It would also work well with making him Warforged, since he doesn't seem to actually eat anything, just dissolve it on his tounge. Which might explain why he's always hungry. You might say he's a little demented for a Warforged, hence his always feeling hungry even though he technically doesn't eat. |
| Tempest Stormwind12-07-06, 02:03 PM | Ah, cool, didn't know there was a deformity to get a bite attack, thanks! The reason i don't want him as a WF is because WF can't eat anything. They have no stomach, so he can't actually consume things. Otherwise, yes i would agree with you, on him being WF. Errrr, I can't find that Deformity (Teeth), where is that? Warforged CAN eat. They just don't draw nourishment from it. Note that none of the homunculi ever actually needed to eat, and even if Gluttony ate, he was *still* hungry. The red stone was an exception, and I'm willing to bet that's more an addiction than a need for sustenance. |
| Neratos12-07-06, 02:13 PM | But WF don't have stomachs do they? Also, endurance is a waisted feat, and it is needed for Flux Adept. If we go WF, we need to just drop Flux Adept all together. I will post a build for a WF, version of Gluttony. WF version is up, let me know what you think. |
| Tempest Stormwind12-07-06, 02:23 PM | But WF don't have stomachs do they? They explicitly benefit from potions and Heroes' Feat, don't they? That's gotta go somewhere. Call it whatever you want (it could simply be a chemical holding tank that doesn't digest things and holds it until the warforged sees need to empty it). |
| JanusJones12-07-06, 02:27 PM | Try the aberrant feat Scavenging Gullet. That lets you eat anything organic to gain nourishment (and I mean ANYTHING!). That could go nicely with a Totemist build with an acid bite. |
| Stickboy232312-07-06, 02:37 PM | How about a 1 level dip into cleric for the hunger and gluttony domains? Just an idea, not knowing anything about the character you're emulating. |
| Neratos12-07-06, 02:42 PM | How about a 1 level dip into cleric for the hunger and gluttony domains? Just an idea, not knowing anything about the character you're emulating The original version has both those domains. The WF version doesn't need them. Try the aberrant feat Scavenging Gullet. That lets you eat anything organic to gain nourishment (and I mean ANYTHING!). That could go nicely with a Totemist build with an acid bite. The original version is a Flux Adept who can eat ANYTHING even stuff like gold/ash/dirt/ect and survive off of it. The WF version doesn't actually eat the food, more like just breaks it down into nothing. Also, i would spend some money on a stomach component that basically mimics Disentigrate, so he can actually eat everything and have nothing left of it. It shouldn't cost that much since it is only some what useful, more of a flavor thing. |
| Neratos12-08-06, 12:38 PM | A last bump, so i can get one more round of opinions and the new builds. :bump: |
| Malcoren12-08-06, 12:59 PM | -RESERVED- Neratos, I have a monster version using primarily monster HD and templates. You mind if I post it here, or do you require a 'characeter-style' version? |
| Neratos12-08-06, 01:22 PM | If it is related to gluttony, go ahead, i don't mind. If i like it, i may put it in th OP. |
